Toranut97 Posted July 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Recently there was a long thread about O being cheapskate and not broadcasting the World Cup. According to Computerworks (Ron) in post #16 of his thread "Live from the Riviera - Barcelona to Istanbul", the games are available to view. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2067019 He writes in post #16 of that thread: "(Much ado about nothing earlier... we were able to see ALL the World Cup games onboard...thanks, boss.)" After all the abuse O took in that thread, I thought the record should be set straight. Donna
hypercafe Posted July 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Some here felt that if Oceania had the games on TV it would turn the ship into a sports bar full of drunks and shouting fans, ruin the atmosphere for ever. I wonder if that happened.
Toranut97 Posted July 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Ron said people were able to watch on the TVs in their cabins.
Mura Posted July 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2014 That's how we viewed the Super Bowl some years ago. Mura

I wonder if that happened. Ha! Since my teams washed out early, I saved the body paint for another time. Thanks for bringing this up... Yes, we got to watch every game onboard. No public venues were harmed in the process. Thanks to O corporate...it was very much appreciated. Two games left... the Runner-up game and then the Final. I hope the final is shown in the Lounge or topside on the LCD wall.
JPR Posted July 10, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2014 The Germany v. Argentina ("The Boys From Brazil") final should be an entertaining match!
samsonmo Posted July 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2014 The Germany v. Argentina ("The Boys From Brazil") final should be an entertaining match! Actually it should have been Germany-Holland. Now that would be a MATCH.

Paulchili Posted July 10, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Yes I was hoping for that....sigh! +1. Best final for me would have been Brazil - Holland (with Holland finally winning its first cup). Oh well.....
CintiPam Posted July 10, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 10, 2014 +1. Best final for me would have been Brazil - Holland (with Holland finally winning its first cup). Oh well..... After watching them beat up on Messi all day long and their similar performance four years ago, I was happy that Argentina won. Looking forward to an excellent final. palermo22 Posted July 10, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in the 1990 final - now Argentina returns the favor as Messi scores one goal and sets up another for a 2-1 win!
JPR Posted July 10, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Argentina's best chance to beat Germany is to take the game to kicks from the mark again. They are superb at that. Otherwise, Germany should win.

Toranut97 Posted July 11, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted July 11, 2014 June 23-July 1 on Nautica, no games carried. So either they only carried on the O ships, or they only carried the later rounds...? Other than that, how was your trip?
computerworks Posted July 12, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 12, 2014 (on the Riviera now)... just got the word that the Final will be shown on the LCD wall poolside tomorrow night. :p
tvmovielover Posted July 12, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 12, 2014 We got off the Marina yesterday. All the games were available in the rooms and in the concierge lounge but on German tv. It was easy enough for fans to understand what was happening. One night there was a group watching in the concierge lounge but it was certainly not rowdy. I agree that that long thread ended up being much ado about nothing.

Donna I think the reason that O finally showed the remaining games on the ship is because of all the abuse they got. Without all the negative postings there would have been no games on TV. Good going to all who posted early on !!!
