Happy2cruise Posted July 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Just wondering if it can be exchanged for a different bottle of wine:confused:. Not to sound as if we don't appreciate it, but it's just now to our liking:(.
delfmen Posted July 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) From my experience, they leave you a bottle of Celebrity champagne on embarkation day. I've heard that you can ask in advance for a bottle of red or white wine but have never personally tried it. Enjoy your cruise! Centenar Posted July 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2014 The champagne is actually quite good and we have always enjoyed it during sail away... A cruise is always something to celebrate!
CathyCruises Posted July 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I have always been able to exchange it for a decent white, they assign a $28 value to the sparkling wine.

germanyboy Posted July 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2014 We took it to the dining room and got credit for it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
pris993 Posted July 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Just wondering if it can be exchanged for a different bottle of wine:confused:. Not to sound as if we don't appreciate it, but it's just now to our liking:(. Like you, it is not to our liking either. A few times we gave it to someone else. Last time we were on the Equinox, we went to Customer Service and told the staff we wanted a different wine we liked, exchanged X's wine and paid the difference. They had to check on the value of X wine to determine how much to charge us, it was not a big difference. We did this on a slow port day. They agreed, delivered the wine we requested to our cabin and charged our onboard acct the difference.
Phxazzcruisers Posted July 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) We have found that it all depends on who you ask and how you ask. It is also not really to our liking, but not bad with orange juice in the morning as mimosas. We have, on several occasions, been able to switch for a bottle of wine. If not, we give it to friends we meet on board. Edited July 13, 2014 by Phxazzcruisers
varoo Posted July 13, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Just wondering if it can be exchanged for a different bottle of wine:confused:. Not to sound as if we don't appreciate it, but it's just now to our liking:(. When we were in a suite, we asked the butler to exchange it.When in aqua or concierge, we asked the sommelier in the dining room to exchange it. Never a problem either way. When the new bottle we selected cost more than the sparkling wine, we were charged the difference.
Tiggertastic Posted July 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Just ask the steward to exchange it, but do it on day 1 as the labels fall off in the ice bucket and they won't do it if they can't recycle it to be used elsewhere
rucruisn2 Posted July 13, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I have always asked our cabin steward on embarkation day to exchange it for a bottle of red wine, so far not a problem.
kathynorth Posted July 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 13, 2014 We've exchanged for red or white wine on many occasions. If you want the bottle of wine for your room, ask your room steward for the exchange. You can ask for red or white, but can't typically choose a specific wine. If you want to request the replacement wine to have with your dinner, exchange it with your sommelier in the dining room. He/she will let you choose from the menu and will identify wines of similar cost. When we've selected a higher level wine we were billed the difference. I believe the sommelier can also arrange for a traded bottle of wine to be sent to your room, but we haven't done this.
mgmigs Posted July 13, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I have never been successful when trying to exchange the sparkling wine for regular wine.
pris993 Posted July 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2014 I have never been successful when trying to exchange the sparkling wine for regular wine. Next time ask someone else. Go to customer service, they will take care of it. We actually selected a specific wine on the wine menu to replace it with and paid the difference. TommyD3 Posted July 14, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) Next time ask someone else. Go to customer service, they will take care of it. We actually selected a specific wine on the wine menu to replace it with and paid the difference. We normally sail in two cabins and they normally give us a second bottle per cabin. So we normally have 4 bottles to drink..... One time we asked the Guest Relations Manager about exchanging the champagne and he said it was against Celebrity policy, but for us he would do it. We now get the free Premium beverage package on every cruise (Zenith), so we don't need a bottle of cheap wine any more than a bottle of cheap champagne..... Jane2357 Posted July 14, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 14, 2014 I also don't care for it but I order orange juice with our room service - or we bring some back from breakfast and then make mimosas. Great for the balcony as we pull into port.
fatbaldbloke Posted July 14, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 14, 2014 We ended up bringing it home after the last cruise. We gave it to our next door neighbour after the birth of their first child. Next time I'm swapping it though :D You can take the lad out of Yorkshire ......
