Oh, my accommodations:

I booked a D2. I was upgraded to a JS. I called and switched to 7712.

Fabulous aft balcony. HUGE. Two chairs with a regular height table, plus two loungers, and enough room to have a square dance. :)

Warning:

(I have had this cabin before on another ship, so I knew what I was getting)

In this aft JS, there is still a walk-in closet, as you expect on a Voyager or Freedom class JS. But in this cabin, it is not quite as big. It's still big, but not huge. With one person, who cares? The last time there were 3 of us, and the diminished storage space was noticeable.

It has both a coffee maker and a tea kettle.

Flat screen TV.

Excellent and easily controlled airconditioning.

(these are all things that people seem to ask about; they are not necessarily important to me)

Chair with ottoman.

Full size sofa.

Non-connecting.

WOW Congrats on your D2 to Junior Suite jump! Thanks for all the information. :D

Wondering where the bed is placed . . . facing Port or Starboard? We will be in 7412 on the other side. Looking forward to it!

If I were you, NewCruiser77, I would ask my travel agent: "Hey, if we give you the price difference between the soda package and the booze package, would you put us down for the booze package instead?"

That way, you could board with everything in place.

But I'll see if I can find an answer here on board.

:)

I don't know why I didn't even think of that! I'll give it a try, thanks :)

Steward = Martha

Head waiter = Erktan. Also excellent. Very patient. Listened to me with respect, although clearly disagreeing with me. (had a discussion about slobs in the dining room)

Martha Steward? :D (and yes, I know the spelling is different, still made me giggle)

So how did that slob discussion go, and what side were you on?

Would love to know what time the gym opens as my husband is a very early riser. Also, times and prices for yoga classes? Thanks so much for any info! :D

Yoga class tomorrow morning. Has a dollar sign, but not the actual charge. I will try to remember to go to the gym and ask.

:)

Mine faces starboard. Does it matter?

Thanks for the congratulations. That's a one level upgrade, in case you didn't realize. :)

Since you're on wifi, how about going to http://www.speedtest.net and reporting back what you see for internet upload and download speeds. Would be interesting to know. Please also note time of day that you test.

Thanks

Time: just now, 1:55 a.m.

Took a long time to load the webpage. ;) :D

ping 801 ms

I hope that this means something to you. It's all Geek to me. :D

I'm very excited to see for myself, can't beat the price. ;)

What did you do in St Maarten?

We were the only ship in port! It was the oddest experience.

1. We got the best parking space.

2. The pier was empty.

3. The beaches were empty and town was uncrowded, according to those who went and reported to me.

I just got off and walked around the pier area. I know - I am totally spoiled and jaded, having been here MANY times. I only wanted/needed one thing, and it was on the pier.

(ssssshhhhhh............you are all sworn to secrecy.............don't tell my daughter.............I bought her a watch band to go with the watch that I bought her two years ago. Only sold at Little Switzerland. sssssshhhhhhhhh)

We were told by the HD Mike that the ship is about 60% newbies. They hit the dock and went running off on excursions. Some went into town, but pretty much no one stayed at the pier, because they were all eager to see Sint Maarten. (which is a GOOD thing)

OMG, I didn't even notice! LOL!!!!!

I don't like slobs. A family wearing shorts, which means gym shorts and Daisy Dukes, is not my idea of eye candy in the MDR.

1. Freedom is following in the footsteps of Navigator.

2. There will be new cabins on Deck 12.

3. There will be new cabins on Deck 3 where the Crypt night club is.

3. There will be new specialty restaurants: I am having Breakfast With The Stars, er, Officers in the morning, so I will pry the specifics out of them.

4. Izumi is definite.

Nikita, are you there?

Yes, you left your card in a slot machine this evening. You didn't come back to claim it, so I turned it in at the Casino Cashier's window.

I had a brief chat with the guy about that.

He fanned out a handful of them, and said, "These are just from this evening."

I ordered Room Service tonight. I have not done that in EONS. Possibly not in the past year, which has been A LOT of cruises. (I LOVE retirement).

At quarter till midnight, I decided that I was hungry. (I only had one meal today, and didn't have a main course, just a soup, salad and one appetizer)

I wanted healthy food, so that eliminated Sorrentos and Café Promenade. I checked out the TV menu for room service, and selected the Mediterranean chicken salad, the cheese plate and the fruit plate. Placed my order on the interactive TV. In a few minutes, the phone rang, the lady confirmed my order, and said that it would arrive in 40 minutes.

An hour later...............no food yet. A couple of minutes later, a knock on the door. The poor guy was SO apologetic. I sympathized with him, and ask if they were being slammed. He just rolled his eyes. A nice tip made him smile again.

The chicken salad was delicious. It wasn't "chicken salad" - it was a salad with chicken on it. So now you know. ;)

The cheese plate and the fruit plate were pretty much what you would expect, and what I expected. So that was good.

I have received all of my ordered D+ amenities. Martha has kept my San Pellegrino iced. (she would have kept the wine iced if I had left it out on the counter. I plan to take it "home" to my sons when I disembark on Sunday. I am staying in Orlando until Wednesday with them.)

On Tuesday, I returned to my cabin in the afternoon to discover a box of four Vanilla Bean cupcakes, a gift from Guest Services.

I decided to eat one while I was very hungry waiting for my room service delivery tonight. ("Life's short; eat dessert first.")

O..........M...............G...............these things are overwhelmingly and fantastically delicious.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :p

I will not be posting pictures until I get home.

I want to thank those who helped me figure out how to log in to the wifi on my iphone4. My plan was to take pictures on the phone, upload to my photobucket account, and post them here.

Alas.

So sad.

Really depressing.

I CANNOT REMEMBER MY PHOTOBUCKET LOGIN.

Carol, I agree with every one of those M's. GS once sent them to us and we were pleased to see they came from Sweet Street desserts right here in PA! :D Their deliciousness prompted us to search further where we found the Chops Red Velvet cake also comes from Sweet Street. They make them just as MMMMM in red velvet and chocolate but those vanilla beans are my fav. Lucky you, you don't have to share!

Thanks. It tells me a lot.

1:55AM tells me that there were not a lot of guests using the internet at that time. (You might have been the only person :D ) (( All guests share the same bandwidth. For example,, you're on a 4 lane highway. If you're the only car,,, you travel as fast as you want to. During rush hour, in the rain, with an accident,,, you go very slow.))

At home, depending on the service you pay for, Your download speed could be anywhere from 20 - 50 Mbps

0.13Mbps equates to 130 kilo bytes per second. Remember the dial up modem we used to use? Those were limited to 14.4 kbps

So, at the end of the day, what I'm seeing is that the service is better than the old dial up modem, but no where near what it could be.

Basically, You're on a 4 lane highway with no other cars on the road, and you're doing 10 mph.

Hi there! We are due to board Freedom on August 10th. DH just read a review or something online which mentioned light snacks available in Seven Hearts (card room) next to Viking Crown Lounge I believe. This seemed puzzling, so since you are on the ship, maybe you can check it out? Thanks!! Have a great cruise!

Which itinerary are you doing this week? No specific questions, but I'll read and look at everything till I reboard Freedom next Spring.

I read further and saw your on the Eastern. How was tendering to and from if you went ashore on Coco Cay? I'll be Diamond on Day 2 of my next cruise, is there a Special Diamond line at Guest Services? Is so I'll wait till day 3 for any issues. KIDDING!. Enjoy.

LOL. I had a similar "repeating" experience.

I'm looking forward to my first repeating experience, we got the same room on Freedom 7 years later, the center hump D1 on deck 9 that I have on my first trip. I assume there won't be much difference there.

Enjoying your report Merion Mom! Somehow we missed the whole Freedom Class, but will be in 7712 on Freedom in 3 weeks. I originally booked a deck 9 aft balcony - jumped on a JS guarantee when prices dropped - and switched my assigned cabin to 7712. Great minds think alike!

Unfortunately, we are not high Diamond Plus - we are Double Diamond Plus or Half Pinnacle (levels in my own mind haha). No chance of complimentary upgrade; full suites have been sold out on our sailing.

I would appreciate any opinions on Chops. We have not been impressed recently and may choose to eat at Portofino twice.

Enjoy the rest of your voyage!

OMG, my brain didn't even make the connection when I saw the "Sweet Street" label. That's the company in Reading, isn't it?

(see, I told you that dementia is taking over!)

That's the overflow from the Diamond Lounge. :)
