Need help choosing a cabin on Spirit

Hello. I have been reading everything I can on CC about NCL, the Spirit, and Europe in preparation for booking the Grand Mediterranean Barcelona to Venice in May 2015. I am new to Norwegian so I am looking for some guidance in choosing an inside cabin. Having cruised on Carnival several times, I know to choose a deck with cabins above and below. I have sailed in mid, forward, and aft cabins with no problems or preferences. Carnival has some special cabins, such as insides with picture windows (I love these!) or larger than average inside cabins. So, does NCL have any special inside cabins that I should be aware of? Are there some insides that are better than others?

Thanks, in advance, for your help! :)

When we were on the Spirit last year there were several large inside cabins near our aft suite on deck 9. I think the numbers are 9203, 9207, 9305. Not sure if they cost more. It was an awesome cruise. It was very quiet back there.

I have never been in an inside cabin before, but I have been on the Spirit. Love this ship! We stayed in Suite 10012. Beautiful room! The best I've been in. It is at the front of the ship. The inside rooms across from these suites looks like a good place to me. Very quiet. Some teenagers that were staying down the hall in an inside cabin asked if they could check out suite. They said "awesome"! You will love the Spirit. It is a smaller ship, but that's what adds to its beauty. Have a wonderful trip. May seem like a long ways away, but will be here before you know it.:D

Did the same cruise last year and we had Inside 10611. It's a "sideways" inside ( called a sideways because unlike other inside cabins that when you enter the cabin everything is there in front of you, but these are configured left to right or vice/versa and ours was huge), this cabin is also located so that there are no cabins on either side.

It's on the same deck as the kids "splash academy", but we never heard a peep, totally quiet, so don't be concerned about noise.

From the link, you'll notice that we were located beside the stairs ( didn't hear a sound) and right around the corner from the elevators, very convenient and quiet as well.

It's a Family Inside Cat. I2, would get that cabin again in a heartbeat.

Enjoy your cruise, we did, and pace yourself it's a very port intensive cruise but well worth it.

If you have any questions about ports etc., please don't hesitate to ask.

We did that cruise DIY and had a fantastic time, if there's one bit of advice to offer, it would be to buy Rick Steves Mediterranean Cruise Ports. It has a wealth of extremely useful info on every port of your cruise. We took that book everywhere we went, it was our cruise bible so to speak.

Never left home without it ...lol.

Cheers...the Ump...:D

We have sailed on the Spirit twice. The first time was 4 years ago, and again a year later.

First time we had a balcony, and the second time we booked an inside, mid ship, and the upgrade fairy contacted us about a week before the cruise and offered us a suite. We took it obviously, and had a wonderful cruise. First time in a suite, and first time forward. We were in 10000. Loved it.:D

Thanks for the helpful replies! I have another question. Will Norwegian allow me to book a family inside that can hold 4 people for only 2 people? Carnival really frowns upon this. The Carnival website will not allow it, and if you can find a PVP who will actually do it, they stress that if a family of 3 or 4 people needs the larger cabin, Carnival can bump you to ANY 2 person cabin without your approval or input. This has happened to me, but fortunately we were outside of final payment so we cancelled and rebooked in a 2 person cabin that was in a better location.

Thanks again!

Nope NCL does not do that. You can book any size cabin you want even if you are traveling solo and you won't be bumped.

That's exactly what we had done. Just DW and myself and 10611 is a"Family" Inside that can sleep up to 4, not meant to be used by 4 people.

I have been on the Spirit in 10001. It was a gorgeous room. I will be in 10502 in November.

I thought that the inside rooms in our area on Deck 10 looked a little small. You may want to try for a balcony room. One think I have noticed is there can be significant price drops after final payment is due. When this happened to us we were moved from and SF to and SE. We did not lose OBC.

Good luck!

I absolutely loved the Spirit. She is so different from the others in the fleet and love the Asian flare to her.

We sailed in an inside cabin that was a sideways cabin and I really thought it was neat after a few cruises later in "regular" cabins. I hope to some day do another sideways cabin again. They seem a lot bigger. We were in 10671 category ID. We never heard a peep out of anyone or anything around us. :)

Inside stateroom 6535 was huge, and quiet.

We, too, were in cabin 6535 and absolutely loved it! It was close to everything being right near the elevators (but we never heard noises from them or the stairs), and you're right the cabin is HUGE...at least 200 sq. ft.! We would stay in that cabin again in a minute!

:):) It felt even bigger as it was just me in it!!!

We used it for a Prohibition Party one evening......seven of us drank all our alcohol bought from the Barca Duty Free that NCL decided not to refer to the sticker desk.....there would have easily been room for another five or six people and it still wouldn't have been a squash. Was more spacious than a regular balcony cabin.

It was also convenient for the casino and Blue Lagoon at 3am after the casino!!! Although nowhere is very far from any room on the Spirit.

I am going to try for 6535 first. If that is booked, I'll get one of the larger cabins on deck 10.

Thanks again for all your help!

6035 is exactly the same size as 6535 if that is available...it's just across the hall:)

The first night I got back to 6535 in the early hours a bit worse for wear, found the side lights by the bed on, and spent ten minutes fumbling about the room to switch them off. Called reception who didn't know what I was talking about. So took the bulbs out!!! The switch is on the bottom of the shade for future reference.
