bambilin Posted August 3, 2017 #2226 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Cruise cash is use or lose, BUT you can cash out at the casino. Any money left from actual gift cards is refunded in another gift card, but if you buy cruise cash with a gift card then cruise cash rules apply. Just make sure you don't buy too much cruise cash. If you have anything left over, cash out at the casino otherwise you will lose it. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk Thanks! I guess the rules changed or someone was just nice to me on my Dream cruise a few years ago. They gave me a gift card back with balance. Sorry if I gave you bad info! They gave me a gift card back with balance. Sorry if I gave you bad info! Sent from my iPhone using Forums It's all confusing. No harm. We brought a bunch of gift cards for use onboard. I purchased cruise cash with about half of them. I'll load the rest as gift cards as needed. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
Organized Chaos Posted August 3, 2017 #2228 Share Posted August 3, 2017 So the gift cards will no longer be available on Verizon site? They introduced a new rewards program, called Verizon Up. From what I've read, it's active now, so you can go to their site and see about signing up. Not sure if Carnival cards are still available. Here's what they say about the new rewards system... "Sure, we’ve got amazing once-in-a-lifetime experiences and front-row tickets, but we’ve also got tons of good stuff like Apple Music, Uber rides, sports gear, coffee and more. No points or levels required. Get one credit for every $300 you spend on your Verizon Wireless monthly bill. 1 credit gets you 1 reward. And some don’t even need a credit. It’s that simple." The article I read says that if customers want to sign up for Verizon Up, they are also forcing you to sign up for Verizon Selects, with no apparent way to opt out of that, as of right now. This is what they say Verizon Selects does...Verizon Selects tracks “information about your wireless device and how you use it – including web addresses of the sites you visit, similar information about apps and features you use, as well as device and advertising identifiers.” So if you're concerned about privacy, that's definitely something to consider. Any idea if these "deals" are for Verizon wireless customers only, or can us lowly Fios customers get in on the deals now?

It's easy to enroll in Verizon Up: Have an active Verizon Wireless account in good standing. Be on a standard monthly plan, such as the new Verizon Plan (including Unlimited), The Verizon Plan or MORE Everything®, and America's Choice plans. So it doesn't look like it includes anyone without a wireless plan.

There are still carnival cards available now Currently available are 100.00 in plastic version, as well as 100.00 and 500.00 in email version. Just snagged 500 x 5, which won't be used till 2020 or 2021 when the new LNG ships come out. Edited August 4, 2017 by SNJCruisers
pntnnc Posted August 4, 2017 #2238 Share Posted August 4, 2017 I have two questions, first what is the difference with the egift? I have only actually gotten plastic ones in mail. Do they go in sail & sign the same way? Also I have a small cruise cash. If I also load gift cards how does the ship know to pull the coffee shop purchases from cruise cash so I dont lose it? It was a promotion from my credit card. Thanks so much

No difference at all other than one is in a card and the other is a paper ecard sent to your email address. Both have the card # and pins. Non refundable onboard credit, which is what cruise cash is, is always used first. The system does it automatically. Followed by refundable obc, then cash/gift cards, then credit cards. That's the order the system uses. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk

azjim66 Posted August 4, 2017 #2241 Share Posted August 4, 2017 I just bought a few ecards through Verizon and had a similar question. We plan on using the ecards for the cheers program. I plan on buying them in increments in the coming weeks for our cruise in October. I could apply them to my carnival account as cruise cash as I purchase them and apply to cheers once on board or I guess I could wait until I have enough to cover the cheers program completely then just apply all of them towards cheers (with cheers being slightly cheaper if you purchase in advance). I haven't used ecards prior so was wondering what you all do I have already made the final payment. Thanks! Yes you can. You go to the Fun Shops section online and you can purchase Cruise Cash. I did this for my upcoming Vista cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Either way, have the Cheers program applied to your booking and then pay it off with the ecards that you purchase. By doing it this way, you'll save the 5.00 + 15% per day by purchasing Cheers ahead of time. Remember that you can also use the ecards for gratuities, specialty dining and any other on board purchases.

cruizinisthebest Posted August 4, 2017 #2244 Share Posted August 4, 2017 Doesn't matter whether booked on your own or through an agent. Pre purchases of cheers, excursions, etc. is available to anyone booked. I use a TA and buy my own stuff online. Organized Chaos Posted August 4, 2017 #2246 Share Posted August 4, 2017 I remember reading these same rules about Verizon Rewards back when it first started. The article I read referenced that this was a part of the Smart Rewards system. The difference between now and then is, back then they gave customers the option to opt out of the Verizon Selects program that collects all of that data. This time, as far as anyone can tell, you're forced into it with no way to opt out.

13cheermom Posted August 10, 2017 #2250 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Kinda wondering if they will replace them again? Since Verizon is ending their smart rewards program 11/1/17 there has been a run on all the Carnival cards in the past week. As well as their other gift cards which seem to be selling out. So am wondering if they will be restocking any of the cards at this point? I went ahead and bought about $3,000 worth last week just incase to pay off next years cruise.
