West Coast Gal Posted August 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2014 We just booked a Window Suite on the Grand Princess so I am wondering if anyone out there has stayed in one of these suites off the casino and what they thought about them, and how good the windows are for viewing? sunshine nana Posted August 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2014 We are considering a WS for a 3 night Pacific Coast cruise in early May. We are wondering if a 3 night cruise would include the mini bar set up, free laundry and a free specialty meal? Thanks

Not sure about the meal though is relatively new.

SadieN Posted August 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2014 We got the specialty dinner on our three day last October.
sunshine nana Posted August 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks for the replies. We have an aft balcony booked on the Grand and a window suite is an extra $100. If we won't get the specialty dinner, then it's probably not worth it to us. I don't think there would be time for free laundry and I don't mind doing it myself. Also, we only drink wine, so the mini-bar would not be a help. Trading the balcony for the extra space with only three days probably is not a good trade for us. It would be different on a TA or New England cruise.
Mindy97 Posted August 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2014 The mini bar setup can be traded off for any of the following: One bottle of wine (they decide, so ask) All Water or Soda Pop or a mix of these (18 items I think) Two Coffee Cards If you drink specialty coffee, the coffee cards are the best deal, because you can use them for on the next cruise, and the one after, etc., as long as they have punches left. MileHighAko Posted August 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Our family had a window suite on an Alaska run last month and it was wonderful. Very roomy, high ceilings, nice appointments, and all the full suite benefits. We would do it again. Very convenient location too.
rhblake Posted August 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Unless I missed it , I did not notice anyone mention my favor thing about being in a window suite and that is the breakfast at Sabatini's each morning.

Thrak Posted August 11, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 11, 2014 My take on Window Suites: I would LOVE to have one! :D
mom2tcdx2 Posted August 11, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 11, 2014 We were offered an upsell to the window suite from an oceanview on the last cruise we did on the Grand. We ended up with 3 window suites for our group. Never heard any noise from the casino, however I don't know about switching from a balcony cabin though. However for $100 I would probably do it. Windows were nice, extra space was really great. The minibar was included, breakfast at Sabattini's, we also had free internet in the cabin (though we didn't use it much). My parents used the free laundry but we were on a 7 day cruise. My son loved how close to the international cafe it was located. My parents who spend a bit of time in the casino loved how close the cabin was.
Coveguy4 Posted August 11, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 11, 2014 It is so worth it, breakfast at sabbitinis is wonderful, a huge bathroom that has 2 sinks plus seperate jacuzzi tub and shower, the extra bar set up (besides the elite is nice), I trade one for coffee card, and breakfast on last morning in your suite is sweet! azgrandmax3 Posted August 11, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 11, 2014 I suppose it is all relative. I would not give up the luxury of a balcony for meals and free laundry. Just returned from the Grand last week. Used the balcony every day. Good luck with your choice.
mysaddlebred000 Posted August 11, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 11, 2014 I cruise to be out on my balcony. No way is a WS worth it to me.
waltd Posted August 11, 2014 #20 Share Posted August 11, 2014 For me it all depends on the destination. If it's a cold weather cruise a WS is just fine.
fabby50 Posted August 11, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 11, 2014 We enjoy the "suite life" but my husband did not want to buck up for a suite for his high school reunion 10 day Alaska cruise in 2015. So, we booked a window suite for just a little bit more than a mini. We have a four day cruise booked this October to check one out. If we don't like it, we can change our 10 day cruise next year. I was going to write an evaluation when we get back from the October one. We have never tried the Sanctuary, so I was going to get that for our sea day. I'm thinking that a window suite with the Sanctuary on the sea day might be a nice compromise over the higher priced balcony suite.
