Hotels along the Canal in Fort Lauderdale

Does anyone have any recommendations to an over night say prior to ship sailing that is affordable, clean, amenities nearby and a view of the ships coming and going? Our cruise is scheduled for January 2015.

We did the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina. Great close up view of the ships right from your balcony and plenty of places to eat nearby.

 

Yes, it was a bit more than more budget minded hotels, but not by much ($20-$30 more). And the location and views were WELL worth the upcharge.

We drive in to FLL and have found that the Park and Stay at the Hyatt works great for us. Get a good room, cocktail upon check-in, breakfast, secure parking for a week and a ride to the port for a really reasonable fee.:D

Do you pay extra for a balcony room, or are they all balcony rooms?

 

Would love to see the Oasis as she comes into port on the morning of our departure. :)

We're fans of Lago Mar Resort and Club. You can watch the ships exit the channel from the beach. Fair warning though, some may not consider it as affordable as others and there is no free shuttle. We usually take taxi's.
