Trainman-2 Posted September 7, 2014 Author #376 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Judith just reminded me that Dennis, our Cab Driver, told us yesterday that Bermudan Kids start school and age 3 and are required to stay in school until Age 18. He also said that Parents can be jailed if they don't keep their kids in school.
Trainman-2 Posted September 7, 2014 Author #377 Share Posted September 7, 2014 We noticed yesterday that the entire island is really clean. Everyone picks up trash when they see it. There is a $500 fine, strictly enforced, for littering, according to Dennis.
dixieva Posted September 7, 2014 #378 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Sounds as if you had a wonderful tour yesterday. We always do a private taxi tour when visiting a port for the first time. Our best tours have been with a taxi driver. Have always found them to be friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoy your boat ride today!

denamo Posted September 7, 2014 #381 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I dilute my coffee too. I think that the "terribleness" is that it is really too strong! Read before a cruise once to add a smidgen of salt to a cup of coffee to tame bitterness. Tried it on board, and it actually works.

smeck Posted September 7, 2014 #383 Share Posted September 7, 2014 CHOPS (Continued) The waitress came by with some optional sauces and I selected the Bearnaise Sauce which is my favorite. It was excellent! The Filet was a perfect cut of meat! I did not see any need to upgrade to an additional cost aged cut. For my sides I had Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. I asked for and got some Sour Cream to go with the Potatoes. A Sea Salt encrusted Baked Potato was available but I did not order one. I was brought up to eat the skin and if it is covered with sea salt, it is too salty to eat. The Desert was excellent! The photo tells you what you need to know. Overall, I still enjoyed CHOPS in spite of the changes and new menu. Trainman, no need to tell you that the potato skin is the most nutritious part of the potato. smeck Posted September 7, 2014 #384 Share Posted September 7, 2014 That is Gibb's Hill Lighthouse and the views from up there are spectacular. The tour guide we had on our last trip to Bermuda was the granddaughter of the Gibbs hill Lighthouse keeper. Some very interesting stories. Trainman-2 Posted September 7, 2014 Author #395 Share Posted September 7, 2014 The roads on the Bermuda Islands are up & down and twisty-turny but the entire island it beautiful. All of the homes, buildings, and vehicles are well maintained. Dennis, our Taxi Owner/Driver told us he has to have his taxi inspected annually and it won't pass if it has even a scratch on the body. BND Posted September 7, 2014 #398 Share Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Love the White Horse. We had lunch the last time we were there and I also had a rum swizzle (yum). We have two friends who were navy pilots and stationed there 20+ years ago with their families and they told us we had to go to the White Horse. We took the ferry to Hamilton and then a bus to St. George and ate out on the patio. Nice! Edited September 7, 2014 by BND
