Can't wait to see your excursion pictures. Have a superb cruise! :D Sorry you could not come with us but Radiance will be a great cruise. We are not taking any excursions, we do the ports on our own. But I will post plenty of photos.
PCWalton1 Posted September 5, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted September 5, 2014 When it comes to Hawaii we tend to do all the ports on our own. It's easy to get around either with a rental car or public transportation. This is a basic breakdown of what we will do Lahaina day one - Renting a car and heading up country on the side of Mt Haleahala to places like Grandma's Coffee House, Tedeschi Winery and the cowboy town of Makawao. End of the afternoon we head down to Lahaina to attend the Old Lahaina Luau. Lahaina day two - Head over to Paia, a great little wind surfing town full of quirky shops. Enjoy lunch at the Paia Fish Market and of course some gelato at Ono Gelato. Make a stop in Kahului at Wal-mart (yes Wal-mart) to buy a stack of Hawaii calendars. They are full 12 page calendars and they are only 89 cents. :p. Drop the car off and spend what time we have left exploring Front Street in Lahaina. Hilo - catch the shuttle from the Hilo Farmers Market into town. Explore the market and other shops then enjoy lunch at the Full Moon Cafe. More exploring after lunch before heading back. Kailua Kona - Explore on foot the shops along Alii Drive. Stop in the farmers market and hopefully get some rambutan to enjoy (google them :p). Stop in the Fish Hopper to enjoy lunch, drinks and people watching. Nawiliwili - Rent a car and head to the north end of the island (we did the south last time). Explore the Kilauea Point wildlife refuge and lighthouse. Head down the road to Kong Lung Trading for a little shopping before driving to the Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant near Princeville for lunch. Spend some time at the beach at Hanalei Bay before heading back south to return the car. If there is still time we may stop at Wailua Falls while driving back. Honolulu - Catch a cab to our hotel in Waikiki and if we can't check in at least drop off the luggage. Explore a few shops before grabbing the Hilo Hattie shuttle to their store on Nimitz Highway. The real reason we are catching the free shuttle is to go to the chicken BBQ place named Koala Moa which is directly behind the store and is known to grill amazing chicken. After lunch we will go into Hilo Hatties for a while to pick up whatever we have forgotten for gifts back home before catching the shuttle back to Waikiki. Dinner that night will be at Lulu's as I hear it is great and it is next to the hotel. Well that is it for tonight. got to double check my packing before calling it a night and getting some sleep. See you all tomorrow. :)
pspercy Posted September 5, 2014 #31 Share Posted September 5, 2014 If you get hungry, this is the best place in Kaanapali area for breakfast, they also do brunch etc but never been there for that. They'll pack a picnic for you for day-trips. http://www.cjsmaui.com/

Buffett fan Posted September 5, 2014 #41 Share Posted September 5, 2014 I know it was a little more pricey but we so enjoyed the aft balcony two years ago we had to do it again. Even though we arrived to Rhapsody late we still managed to luck into an aft JS. Of course that means you will have to put up with a lot of pictures like this. :D I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this view! Had my first AFT cabin a few cruises ago and can't wait to have my next AFT! Hoopster95 Posted September 5, 2014 #47 Share Posted September 5, 2014 Hey Bill, does Rhapsody leave at 4:30pm? if I'm really lucky today I'm going to try to leave work early and get up to Prospect Point in Stanley Park to get likely the last pics of Rhapsody going under the Lion's Gate Bridge for the last time. What's your routine... you figure you'll be top deck or on your aft balcony? I'll let you know if I got there in time and email them to you once you're back from your trip... hopefully I get there in time. If you wish, I can post one or two here of your sailaway from afar! Have an awesome cruise :D
