atdahop Posted September 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Have you ever had occasion to not get your luggage delivered before dinner and had to wear to dinner the clothing you had on for embarkation? How many do not change for the first night dinner and just go wearing their embarkation clothing?
cb at sea Posted September 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Yep..I wore the shorts I had on when I got on the ship! Our bags didn't arrive until 9pm... The 1st night is ULTRA casual. If you can change, that's fine. If you can't,, then that's ok, too! We've had luggage beat us to our cabin, and we've had luggage on the "snail trail"...either way, I don't stress about it. It's not a big deal.
092306 Posted September 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Many are very casual that first night and usually in embarkation clothing. Sometimes we've gotten our luggage and changed, but not most of the time.
jnc411 Posted September 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Yes we have had our luggage arrive late and had to wear what we boarded the ship in. But no worries, everyone is really casual the first night . But if your lucky your luggage we arrive early and you will have your choice of what to wear. Just have a good time. JanineM Posted September 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2014 I always pack a change of clothes just in case our luggage does not arrive. Once DH's bag was late so he wore his jeans to dinner. It wasn't a big deal.
OCruisers Posted September 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2014 We normally wear what we wear on the ship the first night. If we are wearing shorts we take long pants to match our tops in our carry-ons. :)
geocruiser Posted September 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Most time we wear what we wore to the ship , that is if we are driving to the port. This is any where fro 35 minutes to 3 hours. Most times I wear a skirt and top. Something long and does not wrinkle for the skirt. My DH will wear dress pants and a nice shirt. If we fly, then I pack a change of clothes in the carry on.
Andee Posted September 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2014 We always bring clean shirts and toiletries in our carry-on for the times our luggage doesn't arrive before dinner.
Rare Scrapnana Posted September 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 29, 2014 I usually wear the same thing I boarded in. I like to explore the ship and attend sail-away so I usually don't unpack until after dinner.
Ehpride Posted September 29, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 29, 2014 It depends. I typically wear a sundress or other nicer outfit to board. So I have worn that to dinner if I'm not too hot or sweaty by then. I always have a spare outfit for dinner in my carry on so that I can freshen up before dinner, along with my make-up, deodorant, etc... My summer wardrobe is pretty much dresses and almost all of them would be okay for dinner. I just sometimes feel gross after being out in the sun all day or traveling all day. royalcruz Posted September 29, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 29, 2014 If I wear a sundress to board, I just wear that through dinner.

Guest maddycat Posted September 29, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 29, 2014 We never change our clothes for the first night's dinner.
CARIBPRINCESS Posted September 30, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 30, 2014 We have always received our bags early so we always get dressed for the first night's dinner. We usually fly to the port and are traveling since early morning, hence the need to change!
conwakr Posted September 30, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 30, 2014 I've always packed the first night dinner clothes in my carry-on just in case. At a minimum then I have something I can wear for dinner and something for the days if luggage is lost - gives me a breather to figure out what the heck I would do:)
awhfy Posted October 1, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 1, 2014 We always plan to wear what we wear onboard at the first night. Since we always arrive 1-2 days early to port it makes it much easier. Sent from my iPad using Forums
