lauren0309 Posted September 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2014 Hope this isn't a stupid question, but should I pack in a bathing suit for an Alaskan cruise? The ship has no indoor pool and I can't see the weather in June-July in Alaska being warm enough to swim on those sea days.

On my July cruise we had several very nice days and assuming they heat the pool to a reasonable degree the air temperature won't be an issue if you have similar weather. Which one are you booked on?
CruiserBruce Posted September 30, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) What about using the hot tub? We actually sat in the hotel tubs at the stern of the old Regal Princess every day on a Vancouver-Seward sailing a number of years ago, even one day when it snowed! Swim suits take up small amounts of space, taking one isn't a problem. Edited September 30, 2014 by CruiserBruce

Were booked on Ruby but I don't think that ship has an indoor pool as I can recall. I was on that ship once before a few years ago.
donaldsc Posted September 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2014 Some ships have retractable roofs over the pool area that warms things up and cuts the wind. DON
BrusselsGirl07 Posted September 30, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2014 I would take one just in case. It is a small item, and if you need it, you will be glad you took it along. If you are adventurous and snorkel in Ketchikan, you will need it for that!
pklein9747 Posted September 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2014 OP is correct. The Ruby does not have an indoor pool. We're going to Alaska next May and I am planning on bringing one bathing suit. Hoping to use it in the hot tubs at the Princess Lodges and, fortunately, the Grand has an indoor pool :)
sherryf Posted September 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2014 I always take one, and I always use it! Sailing out of Seattle in July:
Rare mskaufman Posted October 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) I packed one when we went to AK and this year when we went to Canada/New England. Does not weigh much and the worst case is that it comes back unused. Edited October 1, 2014 by mskaufman
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 1, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I would pack a swim suit and thinks that Cruiser Bruce's suggestion about the hot tub is good one as many times on Alaska Cruises people do just that. Keith
lauren0309 Posted October 1, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Yes I guess I will pack one. Doesn't take up any room in the suitcase anyway. I did say it was a stupid question. Lol:o
