My Solo Splendor repo cruise (with pics) 10/24/14

Let’s do a quick tour of the Serenity area on the Splendor. The Serenity on this ship is my least favorite of all the ships that I have been on that have a Serenity area, because it does not have a pool or even a hot tub. Thankfully, the Liner Pool and hot tubs located all the way aft, are adult only. Serenity sign….

21 or older. I don't agree with this. if you are old enough to serve our country, you should be allowed here. JMHO…..

Serenity, Deck 12 forward, starboard side. That shower is the only means of cooling off up here…..

The Serenity Bar…..

Another Serenity view…..

Mini Golf is one deck up from Serenity on Deck 14 forward. This is the view of the starboard side…..

They have added netting to the railings to keep golf balls from raining down on the Serenity area…..

To my right was Don from Brooklyn, and he looked and talked like a Don, if you know what I mean. Nice guy, who loved his red wine, maybe a little too much. Lol. Next were a mother and daughter from Westbury Long Island. Very nice people, though for the life of me, I can’t remember their names. Finally, a man I’ll call the bookworm. He came to the table every night carrying a book. He was now on the Splendor for the third straight cruise, and the wait staff knew him well. His purpose was to get through his meal in a half hour or less. So, as the rest of us were looking at our menus, he was already being served his starters. He was done and out of the Dining Room before we were served our mains. Needless to say, not much in the way of conversation came from him! So that’s it, my tablemates for the cruise. Quite an interesting bunch to say the least!

The bookworm's name was Harold. He was at my table! Very, ahem, "interesting" guy to say the least. He brought that darn book to dinner, comedy show, everywhere. He was ordering dessert when the rest of us were on our entrees. Last night he ordered an entree but left before it arrived so he could catch the 9:15 comedy show. Sometimes he'd leave without even saying bye to the rest of the table. He's still on for the first cruise out of Miami. Good luck to his new table mates tonight! LOL

Loving your review so far! I can't wait to see your pictures from the ports. I'll be starting mine this week. :)

Welcome home Kim!! (Sorry that your cruise is over). OMG! Can't believe that you were at the same table with this guy. At least you got his name. Were you at table 438, with the same wait staff as I had?

Looking forward to your review!!

Welcome home Kim! Can't wait to read your review. You and Jamman write them so well, it feels like we are right there with you! So funny about you both sitting with Bookworm. I kinda feel sorry for the guy! :( Jamman, if and/or when we book another cruise, I'd kind of like to go on a "new ship" because we do repeats all the time. Most likely because we only cruise out of NY, so we have to sail what CCL puts here!:p Liberty is at the top of my list, but after seeing some of these pictures, I am really missing the Splendor! Thanks again for sharing! :)

Great review--you inspired me to book my 2015 cruise. Done...Splendor, July 7. Signature updated accordingly!

Thanks for following along! I think you sold yourself on the Splendor next year since you've been on her twice already!

Thank you for the review and all the great pictures. I am taking my Mom and niece on the Splendor in January. I am getting really excited now. We have a balcony on deck 8 so I really loved your cabin pictures.

Well, sadly, the Liberty is heading to San Juan. The Pride is returning to Baltimore in the spring, so that's another option for you.

I needed to be able to check emails and communicate with Patti, so I needed to head to the internet café, which on the Splendor is called The Web. It is located on Deck 4 aft. You need to go through the Robusto Bar to get to it…..

Got off the 2nd leg of this repositioning cruise today. Wow! Enjoyed the ports a lot (St. Croix, Martinique, Grenada, Dominica and Grand Turk). Enjoyed the ship, but the entertainment IMHO was a bit lacking.thankfully it was only 2 sea days.

Looking fwd to reading your opinion and experience.

Afterwards, I made my way to the Casino, and for the next three hours, played blackjack, until it was time to head to the roll call formal meet and greet. The organizer was able to procure the Cool Lounge, located on Deck 5 aft, on the port side. The name tags are lined up on the bar…..
