Danish Viking,

If I take the metro/bus from the airport to the Adina Apartment hotel, will I need to buy a 4 zone ticket?

No only 3 zones.

I know the airport is located in zone number 4, but you coun´t the number of zones you are travelling through at that is 3.

If you take the Metro you just get off at Kongens Nytorv and take any northbound bus 26.

http://www.moviatrafik.dk/Terminalkort/Kongens%20Nytorv.pdf

The busses to Færgehavn Nord, UNICEF, Færgehavn Nord and Færgeterminal Søndre Frihavn gets you off at Pakhusvej just next to the hotel.

If the destination is Langeliniekaj (only Mondays to Fridays) you will get off at Søndre Frihavn and walk from there.

If you take the Øresund trains for Nivå or Helsingør instead (more comfy seats) you just get off at Østerport and get the same busses from there instead.

Is this another option .. from Marriott to Osterport then take bus 26 to pier? and how much would the bus cost? or would it make sense to use the city pass 24hr purchase? since we would be coming from the Crowne Plaza to the Marriott the day before?

https://www.google.dk/maps/dir/Copenhagen+Marriott+Hotel,+Kalvebod+Brygge,+K%C3%B8benhavn/%C3%98sterport+St.,+Sl%C3%B8jfen/@55.680972,12.5405932,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x4652536c9fb4c9f1:0xdc499d72e12f74b8!2m2!1d12.57408!2d55.668816!1m5!1m1!1s0x465252e0509b6503:0x67f1b40f512f1420!2m2!1d12.591225!2d55.693549!3e3

The price if the same if you use bus or train to Østerport, a 2 zone ticket costs 24 kroner.

Danish Viking, we will be in Fredericia early June and wanted to rent a car to drive out of town. Unfortunately Sixt says all their vehicles are booked, any other car rental companies there, what else could we do without transportation? Thanks in advance:)

Try these, Biludlejning means car rental

Hi Danish Viking,

We will be staying at Hotel Bethel and starting our cruise on a Sunday. I noticed that Bus 1A goes to Osterport.

Would you recommend taking that to connect to the cruise ship/26 shuttle to get to Oceankaj or is it better to take the metro to Norreport and then the S train to Osterport? Just wondering which connections would be easier.

I enjoy reading all of your posts!

Thanks so much.

You can do that but you will end up at the front of the station at Oslo Plads.

The cruise shuttle departs from Østerport station, Sløjfen at the backside of the station.

Instead I would take the regular bus 26 that stops at Sløjfen or take the metro to Nørreport from where you take any trains for Østerport, Nivå or Helsingør.

You can also take the S-train But the S-train platform is located further away compared to the other platforms.

Remember that bus 26 drives all week but does not serve Nordhavn and therefore Oceankaj in the weekends.

Hi all! We're on the NCL Star June 5-12. On the 12th we have booked the NCL excursion that ends at the airport. They list the airport arrival time as 1pm and our flight to Iceland is at 2:30pm. Do you think this will be a problem? How early do you need to be at the Copenhagen airport? What is security like? We've never traveled outside the US and we tend to gauge everything based on the Denver airport - which can be a zoo. Thanks!

CPH can also be a zoo but they have just opened 2 new tracks in security and its a few weeks before the Danish school summer vacation so I don't expect huge lines.

Since you are only going to Iceland you will not pass through the passport check so I would say that when you have checked your luggage in and gone through security and reached your gate no more than 30 minute should have passed.

I can do it in 20 minutes or so but I don't have checked in luggage.

I hit the first available check in kiosk, scan my passport or type in my booking code.

The my ticket is printed out and I go directly for security, here the normal lines are around 5-10 minutes.

The longest time is actually to find the plane if I'm flying with Easyjet (and now Ryan air) as they are parked way out in the low cost pier.

Most flights are from the A and B piers, B is located when you come out of security and A is located a few minutes away to your right.

C is only for Intercontinental flights to great Britain.

If you can check in online or by the automatic check in kiosks and use the self service luggage drop off you will save plenty of time.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. I was hoping we'd have enough time. :)

Hello Danish Viking, can you please tell me if the Oresund train from the airport to Osterport is a good option? Would one piece of luggage for each of the two of us be a problem in this train? Last question, would we be able to use a 3 zone bus/train/Metro ticket for this service?

I am looking at this option because it does not involve any transfers. From Osterport, we would then walk to the Adina apartments, where we are staying pre-cruise.

Thank you for your help.

Yes there are overhead racks over the seats and the middle carriage (out of 3) is a low floor.

But usually there is 2 trainsets in 1 train so then you have 2 low floor carriages to choose from, the second carriage and the second last.

And yes its the same 3 zone ticket.

Dear Danish Viking,

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful advice.

Since we are going to be using points to book our hotel room, we are going to have to stay at the Airport because it has the only Hilton property in Copenhagen. How is the metro from the city center to the Airport - does it run frequently?

Thanks

The metro runs every 6th minute during the day and evening but in the rush hour Monday to Friday (7 to 9 and 14 to 18) its every 4th minute.

Nights between Sunday and Thursday its every 20th minute and nights after Friday and Saturday its every 15th minute.

The metro will get you to Kongens Nytorv where you find Nyhavn, Amalienborg Palace, canal tour and the posh end of Strøget where you find Armani, Burberry etc.

If you however take the train you have a Øresund train every 10th minute plus 2 intercity trains per hour to the central station (København H).

In the evening its a train every 20th minute.

From here you can walk to Glyptoteket, Town hall (square) Tivoli and the cheap end of Strøget.

Thank you so much for your advice. I wish I found this months ago.

We leave on 4/28/15 for three nights in CPH before joining the Regal. We elected to use Airbnb for an apartment for the four of us.

We arrive mid afternoon 4/29/15. The address is Wiedeweltsgade , 2100 Copenhagen East. We are planning on taking a taxi from CPH due to being unfamiliar with the area.

Do you know the neighborhood? Is there a place you would recommend the first night for dinner?

How best to get to the ship on Saturday May 2?

Thank you again!

Can you recommend a good dinner spot for frikadeller :) We are staying in Copenhagen couple of days pre-cruise at the Kong Arthur. I was an exchange student as a kid and loved my host family's home made frikadeller ... can't wait to have this dish again and have my husband taste it.

Can you recommend a place fairly close to the lakes that would offer this?

My family of 5 wants to rent bikes in Copenhagen mid-May. We are on B2B2B cruise and will be able to disembark at Oceankaj for the day.

Is this doable? We get off as early as allowed, take the shuttle bus to Osterport Station, then either take the train or walk to:

Bike the City

Gothersgade 157, 1123 København, Denmark

We want to check out Osterport Station anyway, as we will need to rush to it 9 days after our first stop to Copenhagen to catch a flight home. We thought it would be good to see how to take the shuttle bus, then see the train that will take us to the airport.

Should we walk from Osterport to the bike shop, or do you recommend taking the train to

Nörreport station then walking.

I am not very good at looking at maps and judging realistic walking distances.

I chose this place because they had GPS on the bikes and an audio tour, plus we need one child's bike. Perhaps some other place is closer if anyone knows of anything?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Its in a residential area called Kartoffelrækkerne so the restaurant offering isn´t that big.

As noted in another thread then Stægt Flæsk is the national dish and this restaurant claims to serve one of the best in Copenhagen.

But it seems you have to prebook.

But if you walk up to Dag Hammarskjölds Allé and Østerbrogade where you can lots of restaurants as this is the main streets in the Østerbro district.

Its a tough one, most menu´s I see is only Frikadeller as part of their Smørrebrød menu´s (open faced sandwiches)

Its not by the lakes but Restaurant Klubben is probably the place you seek.

This one is only open for lunch, look for menu 25

I think you have picked the correct place. :)

But its a long walk from Østerport, 25 minutes or so, but if you take the train one stop to Nørreport its a way shorter walk.
