Allure / Oasis of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

So with all being well, I should be on Allure this May. Done a lot of reading through the boards, and I am finding all a little overwhelming - normally sail celebrity which appears so simple (due to less on-board)

Anyway, I need a few pointers from those that have sailed?

1) With dynamic dining - where is best to eat, do you really need a reservation?

2) How do the shows work?

3) does everything have to be pre booked, or is there scope to just arrive and do the activity?

4) Any recommendations on where to go / what to do?

5) Where is good to go for breakfast / lunch?

6) due to being elite we get diamond benefits - what are the real life value of these? Food / drink / social events?

7) how does smoking work (we are non smokers)?

Thank you all in advance for any pointers!

With regard to Dynamic Dining, that will probably not be implemented by your cruise. Royal has delayed it until "later this year". So you will be able to choose either one of the fixed traditional dining times, or My Time Dining. Supposedly, Royal's website will be modified to allow this selection sometime in the next few weeks.

2) How do the shows work? You need make reservations for all the shows... worth it

3) does everything have to be pre booked, or is there scope to just arrive and do the activity? None of the activities need to be prebook, only if you want to reserve for you the flowrider... otherwise just walk in...

Side note, Allure is in Europe in May, so entertainment schedule will be slightly different than it is now.

For shows, you can make reservations, or do standby. Most all people in the stand you line find seats no prob, except for Aqua Theater show and comedy show. Those two, highly recommend reservations.

Dinner will be the normal dining experience, IE tradition with two settings and my time dining, where you can show up any time during open hours.

Try the unique experiences like the zip line, Central Park walks, carousel, Rising Tide Bar, etc. In one week, it's virtually impossible to do everything onboard, don't try. Pick the things important to you and go for those. The Promenade parades are fun, ice skating onboard is neat, etc.

Breakfast in Johnny Rockets is great and included, Wipe Out Cafe is great, Main Dining room for full table service, etc. Lunch, Park Cafe for their made to order sandwiches and salads, Doghouse for a quick bite, Wipe Out Cafe for the pretzel dogs, Solarium Bistro for a healthier delicious lunch, etc.

Diamond gets you access to Diamond lounge with 24 hours cappuccinos and espressos, Diamond and up Cocktails hours each evening with an array of cocktails and snack foods both hot and cold, along with three drink k vouchers each evening to be used in any bar during cocktail hours. One hour free interest. Other benefits are of varying value, you can see all the perks at RCI C&A page. Smoking policy is very similar to Celebrity, except smoking is allowed in part of the casino, u like on Celebrity.

Enjoy, Allure/Oasis are amazing ships.

Thanks for the quick responses - On the Royal website is says Dynamic Dining is coming in May (I believe Allure goes into dry dock in may before it starts cruising Europe). If Dynamic has been delayed, when will we know for sure whats happening - currently can't make any reservations in cruise planner (Supposedly you could from 1st Jan).

So from the sounds of it, you do still have the option to go with the flow? we will only be on for 5 days, but the aim is to experience the 'big ship', i guess its curiosity?

No one knows the answer to this yet. We're all waiting to see an indication on Royal's website.

RCI has announced that it will be postponed till later this year, and that it won't be on Allure right after drydock...so you will have normal dining operations. And no, no one knows, probably not even RCI right now, when they will actually introduce DD on Allure and Oasis. We just know it won't be at the times they announced earlier.

As far as being able to wing it, yes that option exists on normal Allure/Oasis sailings. However, will be tougher with the 5 night Med sailings as the entertainment schedule will be shortened due to shorter sailings, most people will be wanting to try everything due to the curiousity factor, as you've noted. I would strongly.guy suggest making reservations for whichever shows you really want to see, especially the Aqua Theater show as settings is limited, and comedy show as it's a very small venue.

It's an amazing ship, lots to offer and you won't get to do or see it all; hard to do on normal sailings, even tougher on the shortened 5-nighters.

Enjoy!

We are sailing on Allure in June, and the dining arrangements have been changed from My Time (the only option available at the time of booking) to Dynamic Dining just within the last few days.

It looks like, at the moment at least, they intend to have implemented it by then.

Although DD gets a bad reports, i am hoping it is there in may as it will add to the differenceness of the experience. It would be nice to experience it, so one can draw their own conclusions - for a fun chilled out cruise, I kinda like the idea. (And I love the formal nights on celebrity, but i see it as a different setting).

So from what i grasp i need to book tickets for:

Aqua Theater Show

Comedy Show

does anyone know what the main show will be - will Chicago still be onboard?

What are the ques like for dining during the day? can we rock up to the buffet and not have to wait at lunch (i don't consider 5 mins in a que a wait)?
