Does Princess have "kids sail free" offers from time to time?

We recently cruised with Royal Caribbean along with our kids as part of some "KSF" deal that had the younger ones only charged port fees/taxes/grats.

Does Princess have similar deals for kids travelling as 3rd+4th persons in the same cabin? If so are such sales/promos regular or quite rare?

Have not seen it in the recent past. In summer, school's out, Princess' primary markets are Europe and Alaska where they can get good fares without offering a kids free package. Over the years I have seen a few discounted fares for 3rd & 4th cabin passengers. Keep watching, you never know what promos may come. There could be good promos on the 3 & 4 day cruises.

Nope. As a matter of fact, in recent years, Princess has raised the 3rd and 4th passenger fares. They used to be a relatively good deal but no longer. It's often cheaper to book kids in a nearby inside cabin as long as you have at least an oceanview.

We've always been able to get the third passenger rate for our girl so hopefully that doesn't go away (and that our girl doesn't decide to stop cruising with us once she starts college).

It seems that many kids-sail-free offers are for cruises while school is in session or on cruise lines that I don't want to sail on.

I have never seen kids sail free and the best offer I have ever received was 1/2 price for the 3rd and 4th guest in a stateroom.

The price for a 3rd or 4th passenger in the cabin is the same for a passenger of any age, child or adult.

I got a $60 3rd passenger fare for a 4-day next month, compared to our 2 person fares of $339 each - pretty good deal! I only saw that posted for about 2 days though.

Did they advertise this or did you have to do a price-check to notice that such an offer was available?

Yes, those RC KSF promotions actually allow 2 further adults in the same cabin. Bit of a shame as it defies the point really, which I thought was to entice parents to take their kids without jacking up the price if they stay in their parents' cabin. Not to cram more adults onboard who could well be getting their own cabin instead...

Actually, I believe that there is more revenue in it for the cruise line when additional adults are in a cabin vs. children. The more adults crammed into cabins, the better for the cruise line. A large portion of a ship's profit revenue is from on board spending. Adults are more likely to purchase alcohol, use the espresso bar, play bingo, use the casino, buy from the on board stores, use the surcharge dining, etc. than children are.

That's what I was implying when I wrote 3rd and 4th passenger. I have never seen advertising for anything kid specific. Princess isn't as child friendly as Royal Caribbean, NCL or Carnival. They don't offer much activity and let's face it, kids aren't looking to come back new.

That depends on the kid and the cruise. Not every kid wants the same thing just as every adult doesn't like the same things. Heck, I think I'm doing really well and don't need to come back new either. :) I guess if I was still working 80+ hours a week I would want to come back "new" but I've always preferred to escape completely on a cruise, especially when I worked.

But not all kids are interested in rock climbing walls, etc. My teen might like the water slide (I'm not sure if we had them back when doing Carnival cruises), but whenever she's gone on a rock climbing wall, she barely lasts five minutes before coming down and looking for something else. Ice skating was another activity that she did a few times with her dad and then had no interest continuing.

I agree - my kid is just excited about being on the boat - and as long as they have swimming pools she's happy!

Don't tell my grandsons that. LOL
