Yes they may take on water but they filter it just like the water they make.

Also bottled water is usually just regular municipal water that is filtered and bottled just like the ships water.

Um princess doesn't 'filter' the water.

Regardless, first you say the water on the ship is purer than anything

else, and now you say bottled water and ship water are the same.

I am looking for information on the 'secret door' that gets you out to the bow of the ship during Panama Canal sailings.

I think they are on both the Island and Coral Princess but I don't know what deck.

Anyone have this information?

TIA!

Yes. The doors are all the way forward on both Baja and Caribe decks. Ignore the sign (if there is one) saying crew only, and go on through. If the ship is underway, the doors may not be unlocked, but through the canal they were unlocked last month (on the Island Princess), as well as several years ago.

BTW, it doesn't get you to the actual bow, but it does put you on the deck to overlook the bow. The bow is always closed to passengers, AFAIK

Enjoy your canal cruise.

Don't believe anyone else. The secret door is behind the bookcase in the library  Don't tell everyone else.

Sorry I could not help myself. :D :D

DH would LOVE this! Is something like this available on The Royal? I don't see that it has a Trident Grill.

On the Star, the Trident was turned into a barbecue restaurant after six at night. Ribs, pulled pork and beef. Unbelievably good. We discovered by accident when we got on board very late after an excursion that ran long and missed dinner. Would love to know if that is a regular thing on other ships.

It was on the Grand too and it was delicious. I too discovered it by accident and what a lucky accident it was.

This is my first Princess cruise, I've been on 10 NCL and one Carnival cruise before so it's going to be a new experience.

NCL has several booze "Tasting" options on board, like a "Beer" tasting or "Martini" tasting, there is a fee but they are a lot of fun and a good way to meet other cruisers. Anything like that on Princess?

On one cruise there was a bar with a "Happy Hour" 2 drinks for the price of one. We would pick up a few beers and have some for later.

I don't plan on buying the alcohol package because I don't think I drink enough to make it worth while, but I do like a bargain!

I don't care if there is backlash. If you have to defend illegal actions you probably do belong in a program for Alcohol abuse. Cruise lines have the RIGHT to ban you from boarding for smuggling booze or anything else aboard. We saw people being led off 2 different ships in handcuffs so far and the nice thing was, They got off first! It's funny til you,get caught. People always trie to bend rules to please themselves.

Do they have the casinos open on an Alaska cruise? We are leaving out of Seattle. I heard they are closed in Hawaiian Cruises

I have been on several Hawaiian cruises with Princess and the casinos are open for the most part not in Honolulu where we didn't sail until late but on the other islands I think that they sail outside the limit so they can open the casinos.

Must have time on my hands, as I have read all 290 posts, to get a feel for Princess; my wife and I have booked the Diamond for this coming November. I find that it is usual on most forums, to find some people put a downer on what went wrong with their cruise. On this thread though, just good vibes!

My heart gave a little jump earlier when I read of the veteran OBC. However, I think that refers to a member of the armed forces, not a veteran due to age, (as my kids tell me)!

Will be bringing my Carnival shares OBC with me though, its a good incentive.

Quick question though, why does the quote button work on here, but not the multi-quote?

Looking forward to our cruise,...just have to remember the "volcano" ice, off the kids menu!

David.

Boy, I wish I could answer that question. I've had similar questions about things like

1. Why on some message threads when you press the "quote" button does the system refuse to bring up the message you are trying to quote? I've tried as many as 4 times to quote a message and it just keeps coming up with nothing being brought forward from the message I'm trying to refer to.

2. Why do some message threads have a button on the first page that says "go to first unread message" and some don't? This has happened to me a fair number of times even when I know that I have read that thread before!

I've even left messages in the "help" area and never gotten a reply. Finally gave up and figured my computer is just haunted. :(

Try clicking on the quote button on the right of the big button it should copy the quote when you get to the last post you want to quote hit the little button then the big button it should display all of the quotes I just tried it and it worked for me.

Tom, the multi-quote works for me, but it took some trial-and error to figure it out.

When I want to multi-quote, I go to the first post I want to quote, and click the 'double-quote' button one time. The button will change colors.

Then go to the next post you want to quote, and do the same. (Note that if you click the double-quote button again, it will toggle it off and on.)

Then go to the large "quote" button on the bottom left of the page, and it will open your reply box, with the quotes in place.

Hope that's clear, and helps you get the double quote to work.

No, the OBC for veteran's is exactly that, veterans. You do not have to be retired. The only thing you need is a copy of your DD214 or the appropriate Canadian military discharge form. Submit a copy of that along with the form that you can download from the Princess website and you will get your OBC. I do note, however, that you appear to live in England, so I'm going to make an assumption here that your military service may not have been with the US or Canadian military services. If that is the case, then you are, unfortunately, eligible for this OBC.

I know how the multi-quote works, it's just that sometimes when I try and select the quote, the window that opens up does not contain the quoted message. I suspect it's a software glitch of some sort. Most of the time it works "as advertised" but sometimes it has a mind of it's own!!

David.

They also have really good spaghetti and meatballs on the kid's menu.

When you try to order off the kid's menu, if the waiter refuses ask to speak to the head waiter or Maitre D'. It's happened to us twice on 2 different ships. Some of the waiters don't know that we are all "kids".:D

Do they have the casinos open on an Alaska cruise? We are leaving out of Seattle. I heard they are closed in Hawaiian Cruises

Your ship has to stop at one "foreign" port for the casino's to be open. If you are on a ship that only stops in Hawaii the casino won't be open the entire cruise.

This is why some Alaska cruises that sail out of Seattle stop in Victoria for a few hours.
