tight connection

we will arrive in alaska at 6:00am and was wondering if we would be able to catch the 8:30am shuttle north the cruise line says it is a tight connection and does not recommend it. Has anyone had any trouble with a tight connection from a cruise ship? the shuttle company only picks up at the cruise port in this town.

Don't you mean that you "hope" to arrive at 6 AM? "Tight" connection says it all.

just because the ship is due to dock at 0600 does not mean it will be released for pax to disembark then. in fact it will probably take at least half an hour minimum. then you'd have to self disembark( carry all your bags off by yourself with no help)

I'm really curious about this "shuttle". Just what kind of company would deliberately schedule something that cruise passengers wouldn't be able to take? Would I want to do business with such a company?

However, since the OP has posted, not once but twice, and has failed to describe ship, port, dates, shuttle or "up north" -- my advice is "Sure, sounds good...why not....you only live once....if nothing else, you'll have a story...hell no....maybe not....I'm not sure....could be difficult....and, you chose".

Probably the best advice.

The problem is that you are not only at the mercy of the cruise line, but also have to deal with the US Authorities (CBP). Maybe they quickly clear your ship and maybe they do not. Are you willing to toss the dice?

OP:

This whole thread makes no sense because there is not enough information.

Where and how are you arriving?

Where and how are you going?

How are you thinking about getting from arrival to departure points.

A 2.5 hour connection time is normally very generous and is not considered tight at all, but then again for all we know you are flying into Anchorage and trying to catch the train, in which case 2.5 hours is tight.

If you really want an answer give us more information.

Since the OP has posted...not once, not twice, not three times, not four times, but five times and has STILL not given specifics, either they a) don't know them, b) won't tell us for fear of stalking, c) enjoy inflicting Chinese water torture or d) don't really want an answer but wanted confirmation after the fact (which wasn't forthcoming).

I left some information out to avoid singling out any company, but you answered my main question. about the 2.5 hour connection thank you

Avoiding the facts will get you near useless advice. It is totally fine to specify the company/cruise lines here on CC as long as you are not mentioning specific travel/cruise agencies.

If it were any other location I'd say no way, but it's Alaska so I think the OP will be alright.

What the heck else is this mystery north shuttle going to do anyway? It's only purpose is to pick up cruise ship passengers, why would it not wait for them?

Dear OP you would have gotten your question answered much quicker by including details. Using your method you not only wasted your time posting multiple times but wasted ours trying to guess how best to help you!

So true. There's a good reason when people ask questions about specific details on this site...we can't give accurate or reasonable information without knowing the port and other pertinent details.

And it is frustrating when many ask the same questions and the OP ignores them.

Sadly the OP does not get it still. Apparently he felt by providing ZERO details, we would know his port that he needed to go North from???

His Answer was that he was protecting his privacy, causing us to guess and the need to waste time searching his prior posts in an attempt to offer good advice!

Very strange indeed.......protecting the privacy of the shuttle?

Oh well, just chalk it up as a "sorry we couldn't help" but, it's possible someone may have come up with a good alternative and something the Op hadn't considered, IF a dew details had been forthcoming. (sigh)
