beshears Posted March 17, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Thanks for letting me know where Island Jerk's is on Grand Turk.
mrsfuzzmo Posted March 18, 2015 #27 Share Posted March 18, 2015 Can you fill an empty bottle on the ship from the buffet area? That's free and easier than looking for a store. Sure you can. They may not let you take any open food (not pre-packaged and factory sealed) but we've never had trouble taking water off the ship.
TMW67 Posted March 26, 2015 #28 Share Posted March 26, 2015 Is there a place to rent snorkel gear, or do you have to bring your own?
celebration15 Posted November 8, 2015 #29 Share Posted November 8, 2015 How are out was the reef? Could a 8 year old get there relatively easily or an adult with life vest (poor swimmer) get there easily? Thanks MUCH for your help! Julie
celebration15 Posted November 8, 2015 #30 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Grand Turk is my favourite family port. The beach is right there and the roped off area goes out far enough to swim to the reef. We were there in December and we were able to see a barracuda. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk How far out is the reef? Could an 8 year old or an adult in a life vest (poor swimmer) get there somewhat easily? Thanks MUCH! sfaaa Posted November 9, 2015 #31 Share Posted November 9, 2015 Do you recall if they still offered a tour at this place? When we were there last time, the place was called "Local Village Bar" and they had offered people to do a tour around island. It was only like $5 or $10 bucks per person. Interesting. Was this a walking or bus tour? Trustworthy?
sail7seas Posted November 24, 2015 #32 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Is it still as blaringly loud at Jack's as it has been inn recent years? The last time we were there, they blasted the loudspeakers when the ship arrived to the point of almost deafening.
sail7seas Posted November 24, 2015 #33 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Everything you really want is FREE at the port. :) For a family, check prices before you buy drinks at M'Ville. We usually don't pay that much attention when on vacation but we ordered bloody Mary's and they were way too pricey for a really bad drink. :o At least if it had been good, we would have been okay about it. :)
simplelife Posted November 24, 2015 #34 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Take large lidded cups for everyone and fill them before your leave the ship. Refill them when you go back to eat.
Rare crewsweeper Posted November 24, 2015 #35 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Interesting. Was this a walking or bus tour? Trustworthy? Local Village Bar is closed. Not sure if the folks occupying the space offer tours, but they were open air tram vehicles linked together.
AandBmom Posted November 26, 2015 #36 Share Posted November 26, 2015 Can you fill an empty bottle on the ship from the buffet area? That's free and easier than looking for a store. We bring sports water bottles on every cruise. We fill them with ice and water or ice and lemonade to take into port. Cheap and convenient. sjliving Posted December 5, 2015 #37 Share Posted December 5, 2015 How do you get to this place from port? Do you go past margaritaville or the opposite way?
mom2ajk Posted December 11, 2015 #38 Share Posted December 11, 2015 We went to Jack's Shack in Nov. this year and it was no charge for the loungers but $10 to rent an umbrella. There was another bar open in between the cruise port and Jacks...we stopped there long enough for son and hubby to buy a beer.
Froufie Posted January 8, 2016 #39 Share Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Can you fill an empty bottle on the ship from the buffet area? That's free and easier than looking for a store. If you are on a Carnival ship you can also preorder bottled water to your cabin - I believe it's just $2.99 for 12 bottles - easy to always have on hand :) Edited January 8, 2016 by Froufie

Froufie Posted January 8, 2016 #41 Share Posted January 8, 2016 SOOO environmentally unfriendly! Agreed - however the one and only time my ankles/feet did NOT SWELL up on a cruise is when I stopped drinking ship's water and switched to bottled water - yes the ship's water is desalinated but for some that is not enough to keep the swelling at bay...so I will again be ordering the bottled water.... DallasGuy75219 Posted January 10, 2016 #42 Share Posted January 10, 2016 SOOO environmentally unfriendly! But better than starting a norovirus outbreak by refilling a water bottle on the Lido deck and ramming it right up into the water dispenser, as I have seen countless people do.
