kfmac1 Posted February 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2015 We usually sail Carnival, but are going on the Emerald soon. We usually use a cash deposit instead of linking to a credit card. However, when I log in to Princess I can't find the info.
paul929207 Posted February 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2015 You can use cash for your onboard account. You will be asked to deposit cash to cover your charges. If you are charging beyond the deposit, you will be asked for more cash. At the end, you will get back any excess cash
JF - retired RRT Posted February 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2015 You start by entering a credit card on your Personalizer, then go to PAX services after you board to set up a cash account.
kfmac1 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted February 23, 2015 But do I HAVE to enter a credit card? Or can I just go to guest services upon boarding?
Rare trbarton Posted February 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2015 I don't think that you can complete the Personalizer without using a credit or debit card. As others have said when you first board the ship go to the pursers desk and give them the cash that you want to use. Just curious as why you don't want to use a Credit Card which makes it much easier than having to bring a lot of cash onboard? Tom:)
satxdiver Posted February 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Princess is not going to issue you a sail card or let you board without some proof of payment. If you give them a credit card or debit card they are going to do a temporary draw on your account where the bank or card issuer will lock that money but not transfer it to Princess. To complete the transaction Princess has to submit proof of purchase. This is simply Princess making sure funds are available on the card. Credit cards issued in the US are heavily regulated by the federal government. Card holders are not liable if the card information is stolen, if the merchant fails to deliver the goods or the merchant tries to increase the amount agreed. Debit card holders on the other hand are not protected by the government but only by the good graces of the bank.
caribill Posted February 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2015 You need to enter a credit card number to complete the personalizer and be able to print out your boarding passes and luggage tags. If you wish, once you have done that you can go back into the personalizer and remove the CC number (just make it all zeros). When you check in, let them know you will have a cash account on board. Shortly after you board the ship, go to the Purser's desk and give them your cash deposit. If you fail to do this, you will be called or paged within a few hours to contact the Purser's desk. Shogun Posted February 23, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Hi You can do what I know a lot of new cruisers have started doing, buy yourself onboard credit to the value of what you want to spend on your cruise, then just check your spending onboard to make sure you stay on budget that way you do not get any nasty shocks on last night, yours Shogun

thinfool Posted February 23, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2015 No, you do not need to complete the 'cruise personalizer'. CC information can be left blank. However, I think you cannot print it if it is incomplete. Still, no problem. As long as you are paid in full for your cruise, go to the port, get in line and check-in. The check-in person will enter all of your information and let you know what you need to do as far as cash deposit. In short, show up with cash and correct cruise ID and they will let you on the ship.
