What's a great price?

I typically book balconies and I never go over $100 per day per person/double occupancy.

Its tough to really pinpoint a number these days in any category. Folks are seeing pack and play & casino rates for $25 pp total plus port fees and taxes.

It's all relative.

Thanks everyone, guess I got lucky on the first 2 cruises and got a pretty good price. I'm not a huge fan of the casino so I don't think I'll ever be eligible for the casino prices but that's something to keep in mind. I also never thought to look at other cruise lines since Carnival is know for being the budget cruise line but I'll be taking a look at other companies now too!

This will probably open a can of worms but my experience has been that a poor selling cruise with rock bottom prices has less goodies, like no lobster, no escargot, more stew like dishes.

Curious? Are you talking about Carnival or any cruiseline? Because I am pretty sure that even if a particular Carnival cruise is poor selling, they will still have the same menu and offerings as any other Carnival cruise. I don't believe that they change the menus just because a particular cruise is not selling very well.

I've been on 2 Carnival cruises and they averaged around $50/night (not including taxes, tips, etc). Is this a good price? What would be a great price that I should instantly book? $20/night? If it makes a difference I can depart from any of the Florida ports.

It depends on what category you book.

We book an inside cabin and are happy i it's no more than $60 pp per night. Of course, we're happier still when it's cheaper than that.

By the way, are we talking about just the room rate or total after taxes, etc. are added?

Right now, on our January 2016 B2B on Glory, one of the weeks is $64 pp/per day and the other one is $57 pp/per day. The more expensive one includes Half Moon Cay which always seems to add to the fare.

HUH? We've never been on a Carnival cruise (14 in all) that didn't have lobster or escargot.

This is a good one, made me laugh!!! I have been on Carnival cruises that were as low as $30 per day and I can say that your statement is definitely not true for Carnival.

There really isn't a concrete answer for this. Lots of factors; time of year, room category, itinerary, cruise line etc.

That being being said, for carnival our target price is under $100pp/nt. for a balcony cabin (double occupancy - lower if we are cramming more than two in the room). We are paying $110pp/nt for our spring break sailing on the magic in a cove balcony which I thought was really good for that particular sailing.

Edited to add: these prices are inclusive of all taxes etc.

We like to sail in suites on other lines and have a different set of price criteria for those. We would never consider a suite on Carnival unless it was the same or less than the cost of a balcony or was a free upgrade (not likely to ever happen). Just not worth it to us based on lack of perks for Carnival suites.

Just for reference, we have stayed in a full suite on Royal for about $180pp/nt which I considered to be a steal based on everything that we got besides a bigger room.

As someone else said, it depends on the time of year.

This year, due to my job, we have to travel in June (and yes, we are paying for it). About $2500 for a balcony cabin on Empress deck (taxes included) for an 8 night cruise on the Conquest. Wish I had booked it when it was $2000. :( Still, looking at the other cruise lines and prices, it's about an average price (and has our favorite island - St. Maarten - on the itinerary). :)

It really depends on the time of year and what category when it comes to price per person per day. I got last November an extended balcony on the Pride for $429 per person plus all the fees which was great, but I've also booked an inside during April for a higher price on a 6 day cruise. So like I said it all depends. Also you don't need to spend much in the casino to get the Pack and Play offer. If you play the tables every time you buy in they scan your card but they never scanned the card when cashing out. I bought in a lot and would bet very small cash out and rebuy back in maybe spending a total of $100 on my cruise in the casino and I recently got a Pack and Play offer and was lucky enough to book one of the few Alaskan cruises they offered for $506.50 total including all fees for 2 people in a French door 4K, plus $100 OBC. My PVP said it's random who will get those offers as some spend ten of thousands and never get them, but once you're on the list who does get them to make sure to book at least twice a year with the offer and you will stay on the list. I dont know if she was just trying to sell me but I decided to book two. Even if I never get the offer again, I could never have gotten that cruise to Alaska for the price I paid, plus the other cruise to the Caribbean.
