Travel_Lusting Posted March 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2015 Hi. We will be in Dubai for two days at start of our cruise. Wondering if it is usual practice to have the drill on embarkation day or the day we depart for seas. Wanting to use our time wisely. Thanks. CruiserBruce Posted March 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2015 It will most likely be on the day you depart.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2015 Any time we have had a couple of days on the ship before sailing begins, the lifeboat drill has been on the actual day that we depart.
cb at sea Posted March 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2015 It WILL be before you leave port. Good luck...I wouldn't go there if you paid me!
paul929207 Posted March 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2015 When you board, there should be a schedule showing when the muster drill will be. As others have said, most likely it will be just before sailaway
Cuizer2 Posted March 20, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2015 It WILL be before you leave port. Good luck...I wouldn't go there if you paid me! Why? You know the muster drill is mandatory.
Mary Ellen Posted March 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Why? You know the muster drill is mandatory. I read it as he wouldn't go to Dubai, not the muster drill.
Cuizer2 Posted March 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2015 I read it as he wouldn't go to Dubai, not the muster drill. How would one get to the muster drill if one doesn't first go to Dubai?
Mary Ellen Posted March 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2015 How would one get to the muster drill if one doesn't first go to Dubai? Why would you think the person you quoted (cb at sea) would need to go to Muster Drill in Dubai? They aren't the OP (who is the one going to Dubai). For the record, I'm not going to Dubai either.

NMLady Posted March 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) I see you have spell checker off, since you misspelled it twice, so maybe I should emphasize it in colour? :D:D Great Britain spells it humour so not a misspelling. US spells it humor. There are many words, such as colour, instead of color, where GB adds a u to their words. They also spell many words, such as realize, with an s, realise, instead of a z. You must have missed my use of the British spelling of color, as this was intended as sarcasm.

And they drive on the wrong side of the street, while here is the USA we drive on the right side of the street. There is a reason that people say, "US and England, two countries separated by a common language." While we are at it, should we discuss the difference in meaning between what the English call a cigarette and what that word means here in the US. Or what the English call lorries is a very common vehicle in the US, but known by a completely different word. dsrdsrdsr Posted March 21, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 21, 2015 If the lifeboat drill is at a time when you are validly allowed to be off the ship, then it will be repeated for your benefit later. Assuming you have been told what time to be on board, you will not be expected to cancel an excursion booked within that time frame.
