Pandabear90 Posted March 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2015 Hey all, going on the Oasis in May with the GF. It so happens to be her birthday one of the days we are on the cruise. I was wondering if there is anything Royal Carribean will do for someone's birthday or if anyone had any prior experience with such an occasion, please share and how do I go about it...contacting them, etc... Your responses would be greatly appreciated.
anijac1412 Posted March 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2015 My first Oasis Trip (back in 2012), my dad's birthday landed on one of the days. We mentioned it to our servers at dinner, and right before dessert they brought out a piece of chocolate cake with a candle and about a dozen servers stood around my dad and sang happy birthday. He enjoyed it! :D I also saw this happen to another family on my last cruise, but not sure if you can still just mention it to the servers, or if you now have to make a note of it on your reservation. If you look on their website under "gifts and gear" there are various celebration packages you can purchase.
dani negreanu Posted March 24, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2015 I asked the same question --- cutting and pasting from the reply I got: They usually leave a birthday card in the room and then he will need to present it to his waiter. They bring a slice of cake with a candle to him and while singing “Happy Birthday”. For additional birthday celebrations that you can purchase (for example a) go to http://www.rccl.com and then click on “Prepare & Go” and then “Gifts & Gear”. Then go to where it says “Onboard Deliver” right next to the red roses. Click on the “Shop Now” button. On the next page click on “Celebrations”. Here is a list of the first 10 items, there are more online. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Cakes 16.95 USD Item# 531 - Bon Voyage Cake - Chocolate Item# 532 - Happy Birthday Cake - Chocolate Item# 533 - Congratulations Cake - Chocolate Item# 531V - - Bon Voyage Cake-Vanilla Item# 532V - - Happy Birthday Cake-Vanilla Item# 533V - - Congratulations Cake-Vanilla http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Birthday Ultimate Package Happy Birthday Ultimate Package 155.00 USD Item# 1104 Package includes Room Decor, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Moet & Chandon Champagne and Gift Box Bouquet. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Birthday Premier Package Happy Birthday Premier Package 95.00 USD Item# 1103 Package includes Room Decor, Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Moet & Chandon Champagne. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Birthday Celebrate w/Birthday Cake Happy Birthday Celebrate w/Birthday Cake 40.00 USD Item# 1100 Package includes Room Decor and Birthday Cake. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Birthday Celebrate w/Cake & Strawberries Package Happy Birthday Celebrate w/Cake & Strawberries Package 55.00 USD Item# 1106 Package includes Room Decor, Birthday Cake and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Birthday Celebrate w/Strawberries Package Happy Birthday Celebrate w/Strawberries Package 40.00 USD Item# 1105 Package includes Room Decor and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Birthday Classic Package Happy Birthday Classic Package 70.00 USD Item# 1101 - Classic with Red Wine Item# 1102 - Classic with White Wine Package includes Room Decor, Red or White Wine and Cheese Tray. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Bon Voyage Room Decor Deluxe Package Bon Voyage Room Decor Deluxe Package 75.00 USD Item# 2113 *PRE-ORDER NOW FOR SAILINGS FROM US PORTS BEGINNING APRIL 15, 2015 *PRE-ORDER NOW FOR SAILINGS FROM NON-US PORTS BEGINNING APRIL 30, 2015 Package includes: 1 Magnetic Door Decoration 1 Set of Pillow Cases 1 Beach Towel 1 Mirror Cling 1 Wire Photo Cable w/Clips 2 Hanging Ceiling Decor 1 Photo Frame http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/category/home.do?catCode=CELEB Happy Anniversary Room Decor Deluxe Package Happy Anniversary Room Decor Deluxe Package 75.00 USD Item# 2116 *PRE-ORDER NOW FOR SAILINGS FROM US PORTS BEGINNING APRIL 15, 2015 *PRE-ORDER NOW FOR SAILINGS FROM NON-US PORTS BEGINNING APRIL 30, 2015 Package includes: 1 Magnetic Door Decoration 1 Set of Pillow Cases 1 Beach Towel 1 Mirror Cling 1 Wire Photo Cable w/Clips 2 Hanging Ceiling Decor 1 Photo Frame

Similar thing happened to us. We sailed on the Independance last year. We were in Giovanni’s Table on our anniversary, and our server asked if it was any special occasion. After the meal, a few of them brought a small cake and did a sing song.
cb at sea Posted March 24, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2015 You may need to remind them, if you want the waiters to make a fuss....even when it's noted in your boarding info, they usually ignore it. I'd say about 96% of the passengers are celebrating something....birthdays, anniversaries, retirement, graduation, etc..... There are things you can BUY, if you want to. Missus Makkem Posted March 24, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2015 my Husbands birthday always seems to fall on our TA cruises and Royal have done very little if anything, the odd slice of cake with a candle in. But our friends onboard are the opposite even to having our cabin decorated last time. He hates a fuss but I thought it was great. I always gather any cards that come before hand and take them with me to display round the cabin too.
cruiseguy1016 Posted March 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 24, 2015 We were on a cruise last week and DW's birthday was on Tuesday. I had mentioned to our room steward that it was DW's birthday and he hung a "Happy Birthday" banner in our cabin and sprinkled "Happy Birthday" confetti on the bed. At dinner, the wait staff brought her a piece of cheesecake with a candle in it. They offered to sing happy birthday to her but she declined. LilBlackDress Posted March 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2015 We were on AOS last month for my birthday. We had a table of 6 (DH, DS, BiL, stepson and friend) They all know I HATE when people sing at my birthday (Due to one of life's most embarrassing moments) and all swear they didn't say anything to anyone. We had planned to have a bottle of wine in our suite after dinner. The wait staff and a few others came and sang Happy Birthday grrrrr!! The brownie like cake and the raspberry drizzle made a smiley face... When we got back to the suite our attendant had made a 2 tier cake with a candle towel and tied a rose with a ribbon & petals on the bed. PS the Chocolate Strawberries are really good! C2174 Posted March 24, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 24, 2015 One of the ladies in the shops were able to see that it was my moms birthday when she purchased something. So it is noted if anyone swipes her card. It caught mom off guard and she was happy the sales person acknowledged it. But it is up to the individual server/salesperson to be paying attention and say something.

Jackamama Posted March 24, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 24, 2015 We sailed on Splendour on my birthday a couple of years ago. When we returned from breakfast on my birthday, there was a lovely towel birthday cake waiting for me, courtesy of our Suite attendant. It was a wonderful surprise. We hadn't notified anyone that it was my birthday, so I wasn't sure if the info had been taken from our booking, or if she had noticed that I had a birthday card on the table. In either case, it was a very nice, thoughtful touch! :)
norwane Posted March 24, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 24, 2015 It will be my birthday over our cruise. I tend to be a drama queen on (and around!) my b-day and like it to be acknowledged. However, DH does not make a big deal about b-days. So, since he probably won't think to mention it to anyone, and since I am past the age of wearing a birthday button and tiara :o, what is the best way to get acknowledged for my b-day without broadcasting it?!

tigger-ttfn Posted March 24, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 24, 2015 On my birthday last year I got a birthday cake from the chief, Chocolate covered strawberrys from the Captain and roses from the concierge. What a great day. Always let them know it's a special occation. I even got a kiss on the cheek from the captain. At the Tier party.

Bamagirl_gina Posted March 24, 2015 #21 Share Posted March 24, 2015 My friend got one of those last week. I'd never seen it before. It was adorable. (Please forgive the mess in this picture.) Ok, I know this is off subject, but I couldn't help but notice the canned Diet Coke on your dresser. Did you bring cokes onboard? We will be on Serenade in a couple of weeks. I have a drink package but really don't like fountain drinks, and would like to bring own Diet Cokes. Just wondering how you brought them on, if you did. We will be going out of NOLA and a couple of years ago friends that went with us had a case of water to bring onboard, but received word from the naughty room that they were confiscated. I would really like to bring on some canned or bottled Cokes!
RedVelvetEverytime Posted March 24, 2015 #22 Share Posted March 24, 2015 The chocolate and vanilla cakes are amazing! My other half celebrated his 21st birthday on board a few years ago and he got 2 cakes, decorations, bubbly, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit bowl and flowers (over a few days!). I will say that we got special treatment for this cruise as we knew someone in head office but it was still a huge surprise for all of it as we thought we might get a cake at dinner. I think they managed to get us on the VIP list which I think helped a lot :-)

We do the dinner singing with the waiters and I also ordered the room decorations and cake for our room when we board ! I can't remember the price, but its a small cake and we usually throw the decorations away after a couple days ! But it's the thought that counts ! norwane Posted March 25, 2015 #24 Share Posted March 25, 2015 Ok, I was shameless and sent my husband an email with a listing of the b-day packages and our travel agents email address! Daghis Posted March 25, 2015 #25 Share Posted March 25, 2015 Ok, I know this is off subject, but I couldn't help but notice the canned Diet Coke on your dresser. Did you bring cokes onboard? No, we didn't bring that onboard. The Diet Coke and the bottle of apple juice were provided as part of the Crown & Anchor benefit for those who are Diamond. (If I remember correctly, Emerald members get to choose between a can of soda and a bottle of water; Diamond members get a bottle of fruit juice added as a choice.)
