Gracie115 Posted March 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2015 On a Wednesday morning mid-May what time should we leave our hotel in Paris to make a flight back to the USA which departs at 11AM?
Rare Hlitner Posted March 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2015 We would probably leave around 7 - 7:15am, but I am sure there are others who might wait until a little later. Hank
Lutèce Posted March 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2015 Check with your airline the time you need to be there for checkin on an international flight - usually 3 hours - ,and allow at least an hour from your hotel. Traffic can be bad and CDG is (much as it pains me to say it!) one of the worst, chaotic and poorly signed airports in Europe.
Gracie115 Posted March 27, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks.....I was thinking 7-7:30 .... would rather be early than late....and am concerned about traffic...
whatnot Posted April 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2015 For an 11:00 flight I would leave no later than 7:00. You just never know about traffic ! It can be terrible. But finding where you need to go at the airport, getting through immigration and security can be bad too. Better early than late is right!
pris993 Posted June 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Communte traffic can be bad and if there are accidents it can take for ever... so give yourself extra time....once we took an airport bus from Orly to CDG... it took over 3 hours... because of accidents. We always stay at the airport the night before our departure, less stressful. There is a Hyatt - Hilton - Marriott among other hotels near CDG. barcrab Posted June 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2015 What about an 8:30 am flight? How early on a Monday morning??
buchhalm Posted June 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 20, 2015 What about an 8:30 am flight? How early on a Monday morning?? 05.30 As it was mentioned, better a spare 30 minutes at the airport than too late to manoeuvre thru check-in and enhanced security checks (due to US demands). CDG is a bloody nightmare and an embarrassment to the French.
aqua Posted June 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Have you considered taking the metro? It is less sensitive to traffic. I would probably leave the hotel 4 hours or so before the flight departure.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted June 21, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2015 How about a flight at 1:30 in the afternoon? And not to N.A., but Cairo. I suspect it will work out well. Have a nice breakfast at the hotel, then get a cab. Or perhaps by then we will be so used to the RER that we'll do it that way, but I doubt it. Rare Hlitner Posted June 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Using the RER is not difficult but the issue for most has to do with their ability to handle their luggage. A taxi is fine if you do not mind paying the fare which can easily exceed 50€ (a lot more if there is heavy traffic). One popular taxi company "G7" even has an English line (with a dedicated phone number) and you can pre-arrange taxi pick-up times. There are also plenty of shared shuttle services you can prebook.
