Is it really that hard to use the Classic Pkg??

MIL reports she received an email that the cost of the classic package was going up by $6pp/day in the next couple of days and I can't verify that. Anyone out there know what's going on? It makes the difference between booking it now or when we get onboard for an additional $200+...

Yes the price on all of the plans are going up on Monday. I called today and got the classic package and the woman I spoke to confirmed not to wait till I get on board next week as I'll have to pay the higher price.

Agree with CB at Sea! We always get a beer and mix drink as we're heading to dinner and then order another as soon as we sit down. Usually they arrive within a few minutes but once in awhile it takes 10 minutes. We were 100% happy with our classic pkg 2 months ago. We had at least 10 kinds of mixed drinks and several types of beer. Craft beers and martinis I think we're more , so unless you prefer those you can't go wrong with classic pkg. We even had special coffees every morning at Cafe el bresco.

We ALWAYS get a drink to bring to the dining room...and we order another as soon as we sit down...that way, we have something until the next one comes!

Now, that's seriously figuring it out!;)

On my last Caribbean cruise on Silhouette this month. I was almost done with my lunch in the Oceanview Cafe before my wine showed up. Silhouette does not have the Oceanview Bar on the aft end of the ship. Everyone looking for drinks had to go up to the Sunset bar to get drinks or wait for the server to make the drink him or herself up at the Sunset bar. They had 2 bartenders working the Sunset bar. With the 123go prom so many more people are having drinks with and without alcohol. I didn't have any trouble getting wine in Blu. The pool bars were normally not that crowded. This cruise there was not a seat to be found during the day.

Just take us for a examples. I might have 1 drink at the pool on sea days. Maybe 1 glass of wine after dinner. I would have 4 glasses of wine at the Elite event before dinner. My other half would have 2 rum and cokes at the Elite event before dinner.

With the drink package I would have wine at lunch or a watermelon or lemonade non alcohol drink from the bar. Elite event 2 glasses of wine. Four glasses of wine at dinner. Then another glass of wine at the Casino bar. Other half had Rum punch in the afternoon. Then 2 rum and cokes at the Elite event. Then 2 vodka and OJ with dinner.

Let not even talk about the line at Cafe Al Bacio.

Did we have a great cruise yes.

My observation was that they went to the bar on the port side as you enter the Oceanview Cafe.

We were on the silhouette at the beginning of March and to be honest I never experienced a line of any kind at any of the bars... And we visited cafe Al bacio 2/3 times a day!! Maybe we were lucky but it seemed the same as our previous experiences on celebrity [emoji41]

If you are a wine drinker, good luck finding a decent glass of wine for less than $9.00 on Celebrity. I just returned from the 14 night Southern Caribbean and you really have to pay around $10.00 or more for a decent glass of wine.

Silhouette has Il Secondo Bacio inside Oceanview which would've been a way better place to get drinks if you were wanting some while eating at the buffet. I did find the waiters in Oceanview weren't thrilled about bringing drinks and service noticeably suffered compared to the MDR (where we had an amazing service staff who kept us well-sloshed.)

Do they no longer have the Shiraz? That was our favorite?

I was worried but we had zero problems with the classic. Have fun.

I was worried about wine selection but they made it work.

We found no line ar Bacio.

Our first cruise with Celebrity last year had the package. We loved it. We had some OBC so we upgraded to premium but we could have done without. We just knew there was nothing else to spend our obc on. Now, because of the package I usually check celebrity itineraries first.

If there was a wait for drinks it wasn't because of the package but because they were busy.

I've posted a few threads asking some questions about where we can use the Classic Pkg. And it seems from responses some report having to wait 20min in the main dining room for a glass of wine in the package. REALLY??? If this is the case we may call and cancel the pkg. Since we're doing a 16 day TA, I thought we might really get our use out of it. Maybe?? Maybe not??? After spending over $1800, there's not much chance I can talk hubby into spending more.

We have had the Classic package the past three cruises and not one time did we encounter a problem. We had to tell the wine somolier to stop filling our glass at dinner as we had enough. It's a great deal, wouldn't want to cruise without it now.

We too are totally spoiled by the Classic package and love the quick service that comes with it! Applies to all areas except the buffet where there are few waiters that can get drinks for you.

That goes for the premium package as well. Sometimes there was only one option for a wine by the glass between $9-13 in the restaurants. Most of the bars only had the house wine.

Not too concerned about the wine (i just haven't the taste to tell the diff.) Though they should have a choice of at least ONE dark beer!! I'm also having problems finding cocktails in the $8 range. After spending $$$ for our 16 day, I'm not sure if the budget can find more $$ to upgrade to the premium. We have no status with Celebrity. So no freebies.

We had the classic package on our recent cruise, and overall, we loved it. In fact, it would be hard now to cruise without one!

There were a couple of problems with it, however. One, when we first got onboard I ordered a pina colada and the waiter told me to get that I would have to upgrade to the premium package. He said I could only get a vodka tonic or a Budweiser. I knew that was wrong, but didn't know if he was new and didn't know the real story or if he was doing a hard sell. It did bother me since we were cruising with friends and I had gone to a lot of trouble to explain what would be included, having researched it thoroughly in advance. After that one encounter, any other waiter or bartender would make me a pina colada, which were delicious btw!

The other thing I encountered was a frequent long wait for a drink. The staff just seemed really busy all the time, wherever I went. Bars, the coffee shop, lounges, dining room, it didn't seem to matter where.

Even with the waits though, we felt it was a real plus to have the package. I didn't love the wines by the glass, but I didn't care! And the mai tais, mojitos, pina coladas were all fantastic.
