2552phxcrzr Posted April 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2015 We're looking at arranging our forward air travel (domestic) once we disembark in Istanbul after overnighting on the ship. We're very familiar with the city, so no problem there. The question is how does the disembarkation work on Oceania ... this will be our first cruise with the line, so have no standing that might give us priority, and we're in a B1 cabin if that matters. Thanks in advance for any information.

Rare PaulMCO Posted April 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Last year we did a walk off -- took our bags with us and were one of the first off the ship. Docked at 0700 -- off ship by 0815h. Edited April 5, 2015 by PaulMCO
no fuss travel Posted April 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Everyone disembarking must be off the ship by 9 am, if that figures into your plans. We are going on a land tour of Turkey after we disembark from our cruise, so we just plan on heading for the hotel once we are off the ship. Mura Posted April 5, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2015 It can be quite a zoo leaving the ship, but it's much less of a problem on an "R" ship as compared to Marina or Riviera. When we left Marina a few years ago in Istanbul we didn't have a reservation for a cab and it took forever for us to get one. There were lots of cabs there, it was just a matter of getting to the head of the line. Whereas when we left Regatta (where we DID have a cab reservation through our hotel) it was a piece of cake. There are plenty of cab services that you can order in advance. If you are heading for the airport (and also depending on the time of your flight), I'd suggest that you do so. The ship will do its best to get you off on time! Mura
2552phxcrzr Posted April 6, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Thank you all. We have friends in Istanbul, so they will take us to the airport, and if not, we speak the language and have traveled in Turkey quite a bit ... don't plan to have too much luggage, so worse case, we'll leave the port, cross the street and hail a cab as we have done in the past ;-) I just wanted to make sure O's disembarkation process wasn't too dissimilar from what we're used to on other lines, and looks like it isn't. Looking forward to our first O cruise.
