AlvinsMom Posted April 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Hi all. My friends first cruise is next week and it's a surprise for her birthday by her husband. I am going to be on the boat to and wanted to get her a beach bag of items that would come in handy for her on her first cruise that she never would have thought about herself. Towel clips - so you can clip your towel to the chair so it doesn't blow away Bungey cord - keep the balcony door open What others items can I add?? Thanks!!! Jasalth Posted April 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Not sure what cost range you are trying to fall into though I will post a few things. Disposable underwater camera (well if she is a swimming person) Small power strip If you can fit it maybe a small lightweight sweater or wrap as the "bigger" part of the present. I know after all our cruises I still can be shocked at how cool/cold it can get sometimes in the middle of spring/summer on sea days!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums A little 3 plug electric outlet that allows you to plug more than 1 thing in at a time. Some ships don't need this, but others do. A little diary to keep track of the memories of the trip. An electric clock from home, that includes an alarm. Or just get her a new one if you want it to be a gift, that can also be used from home. Or her husband may be able to bring one along from their place. Happy birthday to the birthdal gal. I am going on 27 April for my 28th of April bd. Happy sailing to all of you. asalligo Posted April 7, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2015 A fire pit if you have a balcony, we used ours every night, it was awesome. Just ask guest services for camp wood, $4 a bundle. No need to bring your own.

Lerin Posted April 7, 2015 #16 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Seriously just give her a Bon Voyage card stuffed with cash. If you give her a big ol bag with all the stuff above, she will have a heck of a time getting it all back off the ship.
StolidCruiser Posted April 7, 2015 #17 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Double up on the bungee cords... sometimes those doors are incredibly difficult to keep open. They really should make it much easier to prop them open.
asalligo Posted April 8, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Okay, it's not April 1st so are you for real? A fire pit?! Is this a joke I'm not in on? What?!, we loved our fire pit. If you leave the wood out, the steward will start it for you during the turn down service. Of course just a joke. No smoking on the balcony you know. NMLady Posted April 8, 2015 #19 Share Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) The items you give should be small so easily packed, leaving room in the suitcase on return for souvenirs and gifts. Extra sunscreen might be helpful. Edited April 8, 2015 by NMLady
ozarkmama Posted April 8, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Bullfrog sunscreen. It is the best if you are going to be in the water. My daughter who is a very fair skinned redhead didn't burn on our cruise and we only applied twice a day for the most part.

Cruisin' Chick Posted April 9, 2015 #22 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Double up on the bungee cords... sometimes those doors are incredibly difficult to keep open. They really should make it much easier to prop them open. From what I understand, many cruise lines will ask you not to keep your balcony door open as it can mess with the climate control for your area of the ship. Jay Sam Posted April 9, 2015 #23 Share Posted April 9, 2015 From what I understand' date=' many cruise lines will ask you not to keep your balcony door open as it can mess with the climate control for your area of the ship.[/quote'] Right and also wastes energy too. I never want my balcony door open. It let's all the heat in. When I am outside warm is good. Inside, keep it cool. Very.

Inside, keep it cool. Very. Don't forget a strong dush of wind can knock stuff over and out the door too... Some other suggestions - 1)get her a waterpouch for swimming / water excursions; 2)a passport wallet to hold passport, cards and money 3)moisturizing body lotion &/or Aloe Vera lotion for help with the tan / sunburn 4) sunscreen 5) small bottle Febreeze, Grandma spray , perfume, body spray (especially for the casino smoke) 6) small alarm clock (battery or winded-up) 7)Shout!! or any stain remover (small pack) 8) a mini first aid kit along with tums and Tylenol / aspirin / Alleve 9) a refillable water bottle and/or insulated nonspill-able travel mug Those all can easily fit in a beach tote and through security. :p
Rare Crew News Posted April 9, 2015 #25 Share Posted April 9, 2015 I would add: 1. A battery-operated alarm clock. Electric clocks run on electric cycles (60) but the ships cycles are very inconsistent making the clock always wrong. 2. Potato chip bag clips or clothes pins to keep your curtains closed when you are trying to sleep. 3. A fancy lanyard to carry a stateroom card. Add a hole puncher to be shared with others with lanyards. 4. Ziploc bags for storing snacks (cookies, cheese, popcorn, fruit, etc.), camera at the beach, wet bathing suits 5. Small lanyard LED flashlight for searching for cufflinks under the bed, in case of power loss, etc. 6. Small first-aid kit. 7. Small sewing kit. 8. Sticky note pad for notes. 9. Long extension cord without a surge protector. 10. Collapsible jungle hat. 11. Anker five USB outlet adapter for charging phones and tablets. 12. Small roll of duct tape for repairing hems, heels, suitcases, blotting lint, keeping closet doors closed, etc 13. Mesh backpack for excursions and the beach.
