Independence vs. Navigator

Recommended Posts

Cruising with our 13 year old grandson in Feb. 2016. Currently booked 5 nights on Independence (Belize, Cozumel) and considering change to 6 night Navigator (Grand Cayman, Falmouth, Labadee) for $100 total additional cost.

This will be our grandson's first cruise. Not sure if ship size and/or ports will make a difference and interested to hear other opinions.

Thanks!

Biggest difference between the two ships is the kiddie H2O zone on Indy. If that makes no difference, I'd go with the longer cruise. The 13 year old might enjoy the zipline and roller coaster on Labadee.

Check out the sale started today on Navigator Feb 28 6 nights. No port or tax fees chargrd. D2 Superior Balcony $1218 total for 2.

Don't know if this may influence your decision

The sale today is what brings the Navigator closer in cost to Indy. Unfortunately, we have to go by his school schedule and can't go Feb. 28th.

Your grandson would not be interested in the kiddie H2O zone on Indy. It is for younger children. That is the only real difference in the two ships, except Indy is longer and has a separate pizza place. But Navigator serves pizza in the Cafe Promenade. I definitely would go on NOS for 6 nights! I think NOS is more visually stunning than Indy also.

Navigator (Voyager class) vs Independence (Freedom class)

Both ship classes are good, Freedom class is bigger with more things for a 13 yr. old to do.

In our opinion, both cruises have 1 awful port, Falmouth, and Belize so that's a tie.

So we see it this way, Freedom for 5 days with more to do on the ship vs the Navigator for 6 days for'only' $100.

We'd pick the Navigator!

Imagine the pictures of your Grandson on a Grand Cayman excursion swimming with the dolphins, plus a great beach day at Labadee, that sounds better then just a great beach day at Cozumel.
