Anyone stayed here? We got a good rate for one night pre cruise for our

November cruise, but it looks like it may be a little far from the port.

Any thoughts?

The hotel is not in a good area (kind of sketchy) and it is 15 miles from the Port.

Check out the Courtyard on Cypress Creek Road. Its rates ought to be less than the hotels closer to the port. It is about a 15-20 minute drive to the port. Dining options around the hotel are few, but one does not have to drive far to arrive at some wonderful restaurants. The area around the hotel is business-oriented and is a good area, I think. I have stayed there several times.

I wouldn't stay in that neighborhood. The Rodeway Inn is close to the port and is usually one of the lowest priced hotels that might be acceptable if you aren't picky.

The immediate area around that hotel is sketchy at best. You need to drive several miles before it gets better.

To the OP, the Courtyard Marriott on Commercial would be a much better bet.

Having stayed at the Courtyard on Commercial, I'd agree with Blue Herons, however, it's still a drive to the port and to better eateries. Look into the Rodeway Inn (as royalcruz suggests) or Sleep Inn in Danica for good values, if not the same prices.

I forget how far it is because I always take the shortcut through either 14th Street or 15th Street through Victoria Park to Sunrise. It is a much shorter trip time wise.

Has the area changed since 2011/2012 which is when I believe I last stayed there? It appeared to be a business oriented area with the Executive Airport very close.

Things aren't always what they appear to be. The area north of Commercial Blvd is the executive airport area (a private airport, we have a lot of those but this one is really nice). The rest of the area has been getting rougher as the years pass. It's not horrible, but it's sketchy enough that I wouldn't choose to be there after business-oriented hours, and it's not close to the port or airport.

Thank you for this information! I will keep it in mind the next time I need to book a hotel in Fort Lauderdale.

Well,I cancelled our booking at Comfort Inn,& booked the Rodeway Inn.

Thanks royalcruz for the tip! They have decent reviews on Trip Advisor, with most saying it's clean, even though a bit dated. But it seems conveniently located, & has a bar & restaurant, with a large cruise clientele, so will suffice for one night pre cruise. One less thing to worry about!

The restaurant is fine and the burgers are very good. Don't eat the salad bar.
