hpecorari Posted July 20, 2015 #77 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Of course it makes sense....for NCL. The longer they're at port the less money they bring in. Once at sea, drinks are purchased, stores are open as is the Casino. They make more money cruising then sitting in port. Harriet Thats just crazy and makes ZERO since at all. Cruise4Real Posted July 20, 2015 #83 Share Posted July 20, 2015 23 hours in port for a 7 day cruise is pretty paltry. Back in the 80's and 90's it seemed like port times on a 7 day cruise were in the 35-40 hour range cumulative. When we cruised on Gem in 2008 we went to four ports (Pt. Canaveral, GSC, Nassau, and Freeport) in 7 days. Now the Gem does three ports (minus Freeport) in 8 days.
SissasMomE Posted July 20, 2015 #84 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Hi everyone, We are looking into these itinerary changes and were wondering if you could provide the exact ships that are being affected by the changes, and what ports have been adjusted. (Time in port has been shortened as well?) Thank you! ~Cruise Critic staff Escape March 5, 2016.

SissasMomE Posted July 20, 2015 #86 Share Posted July 20, 2015 BTW, yes it is legal and I can't believe a few hours less at a port it going to hurt any of us. There is a huge difference between leaving at 6pm and leaving at 3pm. That is smack in the middle of the day, and yes, it makes a difference. (Wish this year Tortola stop was longer but sigh...[emoji17] ) Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk I also did a mock booking for May 21, just in case my itinerary simply hasn't been updated, but it also still shows 8am to 6pm. That makes me think this change is just temporary, for a few months only. That's what makes me wonder if maybe it's coming from scheduling at the port or something out of the control of NCL. I have no clue for sure, but I'm not sure why NCL would just change it for a few months, then go back to normal, which so far is what is happening. I hope everyone gets some answers though. Leaving St. Thomas at 3pm would suck for most.

No work being done in St Thomas & 3 other ships will be with the Escape on 11/16, 2 at Havensight . All ships leave at least 2 hours after the Escape. Thank you! ~Cruise Critic staff Dawn 9/11/15 from Boston to Quebec: Halifax is now 11am-7pm and it was 9am-6pm (the 2 hours lost in the am is much more valuable than the 1 hour gained in the pm (the later hour in the pm interferes with dinner plans and entertainment). There is no excuse for NCL not to be sending out emails in a timely fashion to notify us of these changes. We know they have our emails since they sent out the email about the DSC change. momoftwinteens Posted July 20, 2015 #96 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Can anyone confirm or deny if the Dawn to Bermuda schedule has changed? My E-docs for my cruise say "arrive at 1:00PM and leave 2 days later at 5:30". NCL website says the same. I honestly didn't notice if that had changed since we booked it a year ago. Thank you. The previous schedule for the Dawn had an arrival of 11am on Sundays, and left Bermuda at 5pm on Tuesdays. I'm sailing in October on the Dawn, and my original confirmation has the pre-change info. Rare Laszlo Posted July 20, 2015 #100 Share Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) Just rechecked everything on our Gem repositioning cruise October 2016. For now nothing has changed and we are in St. Thomas from 8am to 5pm docking in San Juan the next morning If anything changes on the we will cancel. One of the reason's we picked that was the long port days at each stop Edited July 20, 2015 by Laszlo
