texast518 Posted July 24, 2015 #27 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Super!! Sailing the Freedom at the end of Sept. I was a afraid I was going to miss it. Do they replace the DJ on the lido or do they just play random locations occasionally? Mostly by pool, sometimes casino if weather. Two performers, singer/keyboard, the steel drummer is REALLY good. TerReuv Posted July 24, 2015 #28 Share Posted July 24, 2015 I hope this does not mean Caribbean music on Lido all the time. I'd rather rip my ears off. I can only hear Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffett oh so many times before I want to jump overboard. Thank you! I so agree. I really like a good mix of all sorts of music and would like some Caribbean mixed in. However, the DJ was too loud and actually got annoying some times. Hoping that there is a good mix as I would go crazy listening to steel drums all day!

mek Posted July 24, 2015 #31 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Good news, now if they would just get rid of the Playlist Productions,(or limit them to one night), and the games shows that pass for entertainment, I might decide to book a Carnival cruise. jmcancruise Posted July 24, 2015 #32 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Glad to hear this. For me Caribbean music sets the tone for a Caribbean cruise. I can understand that it is not everyone's cup of tea, but a nice sprinkling of it throughout the week would be sweet.

Raxter54 Posted July 25, 2015 #34 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Looking forward to it. The Dream may not be getting the American Table menu before our January cruise, but will enjoy the Caribbean music :D Love having a variety of music during the cruise... lappy22 Posted July 25, 2015 #37 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Can anyone confirm a real Caribbean style band with a steel drum or is it just a duo with a keyboard and guitar?
Avril Posted July 25, 2015 #38 Share Posted July 25, 2015 This is AWESOME news, literally made my day (and weekend)!!!! :D :D I love the Caribbean style music (especially the steel drums) as well as Jimmy Buffett. Now, I'm looking forward to my B2B on the Breeze in December 2015/January 2016 even more (something I wouldn't have thought possible as I was already SUPER excited)!!!! :D :D I hope they have one of these bands on the Sunshine when I sail with my boyfriend in December 2016. it'll be his 1st ever cruise and I want him to have the real, full Caribbean cruise experience. nybumpkin Posted July 25, 2015 #41 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Just off the Breeze two weeks ago, and I thought they had a nice mix of music on Lido. They had a Caribbean duo called "Frontside Duo"; solo guitar players Travis and Steve who alternated afternoons; and DJ Blendz, who provided the music for things like hairy chest, ice carving, and line dancing. Generally they'd do 45-minute sets.

crusinpsychRN Posted July 25, 2015 #43 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Many years ago there was a steel drum band that played I shot the Sheriff over and over. They butchered it so bad, off tune. We thought it was hysterical. We still had the steel drums though!
Sundsgn Posted August 22, 2015 #44 Share Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) I am so excited about this...it was a missing piece from the last few cruises compared to some of the first cruises I took. It really set the tone and made me feel like I was on vacation. I hope it makes it way to the Magic before February. I really miss some of the things they used to do! adamt Posted August 22, 2015 #49 Share Posted August 22, 2015 Excellent! I'll be on the Liberty in November and really missed the live music. As a musician myself, I love sitting there watching guys play, and drooling over their gear:) Looking forward to it!
beshears Posted September 10, 2015 #50 Share Posted September 10, 2015 This is just an "after thought," if they cannot have the LIVE music on this ships, some of us who are musically inclined, may have to provide some LIVE music. :) This is just a thought ONLY at this time.:)
