dgs1956 Posted August 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Just a quickie' date='when ordering room service how much do people usually tip? Thanks ☺[/quote'] You know you don't need to tip. I don't use Room Service very often but when I do I tip £1.

bluedot2014 Posted August 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2015 We were tipping a couple of quid before we ran out of UK change (note to self, to take a pile of pound coins next time!), then we just used our Norwegian Krona for roughly the same amount. Alan & Giselle Posted August 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2015 We always tip £1 every time they come to us and we use quite a lot as we always use them on port days for breakfast as we tend to do the ships tours so it is convenient and then sometime we use them for lunch once we come back. spf Posted August 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2015 We use them every morning and on day 1 ask if it will be the same person, then at the end of the cruise give them £1 a day. This works well for us.
indiana123 Posted August 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2015 £1 here too. It seems to be the norm.
Pink-belle Posted August 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2015 We tip £1 a tray, so usually £1 for breakfast and £2 for lunch. It certainly isn't expected, but gratefully received.

CCFC Posted August 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Never tipped for room service, thats why tips are pre-paid.

Big Stevie Posted August 7, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 7, 2015 I never tipped them. I saw auto tips as covering that. In any case, during our two week cruise they never once delivered the correct order. But I still ate it :)

tartanexile81 Posted August 7, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) We get ice and lemons delivered every afternoon and give the crew member £1 every time as we're very grateful. If we get good service (and we usually do- a friendly greeting, smile, being helpful) we give £2 for room-service breakfast or late lunch after being ashore. Some people here say it's included in your auto-tips and it may well be but if we have good waiters / steward / bar staff / wine water we add a bit anyway. KaththeTaff Posted August 8, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2015 We didn't have room service on our last cruise, but we've never given a tip whenever we have ordered it.
fue-fue Posted August 9, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 9, 2015 We use room service every morning for our 1st coffee. We tip £2 & save our £2 coins throughout the year for this!
Glenndale Posted August 9, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Surely auto tips are supposed to cover all wait staff? We don't use room service but if we did, we wouldn't feel it necessary to tip extra. Tip if you feel you must, it is always a personal decision. balf Posted August 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 10, 2015 We use room service every morning for our 1st coffee. We tip £2 & save our £2 coins throughout the year for this! Two quid for delivering a coffee. I could do with a job like that. David.

I am sure we all could but at least we go home at night and don't see our kids for 9 months on end while working to make a better future for them I tip £1, or £2 if I have ordered a lot and it is a heavy tray or a couple of trays
cruisefan2012 Posted August 10, 2015 #20 Share Posted August 10, 2015 They picked their jobs, like you picked yours, like I picked mine I certainly would not tip somebody £2 for bringing a hot drink but then again I don`t believe in tipping full stop

Iron-Maiden's-No1-Fan Posted August 10, 2015 Author #22 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Well I always tip even though I pay gratuities either upfront with royal caribbean or at the end with P and O. I'm used to tipping any extra on dollars so didn't think about doing it on ventura ☺

Maybe P&O will change coins for staff but I wouldn't bet on it.
