MickD Posted December 17, 2016 #76 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Beware of the preowned rolexes on board, just got back off Adventure of the seas and the pricing is outrageous. They had a 1990 36mm two tone datejust for sale with a retail price of $14,000 then were giving 30% off. A new one only has a retail price of $10900. Average price for a 26 year old datejust depending on condition box papers etc is between $2500 to $4000. So basically overpriced by over $6000. Manager actually said they have recently sold 2 or 3 of them. Some people obviously have no clue to what they are buying.
Rare John&LaLa Posted December 17, 2016 #77 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Seven years old on July 20, 1969. I want one, too... At least the Speedmaster Professional doesn't have a date, so it's not that big a deal to wind it, set it, and take off... Exactly 😁 Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

Is pricing better online(amazon). Is that a reliable source? Trying to education and research now.
TommyTV Posted September 7, 2017 #79 Share Posted September 7, 2017 A few years ago, when £1 = $2.30, my DW bought me a Tag Carrera bi- metal (Gold and Stainless), glass back, for $3200 on RC. The watch is quite rare, and it's purchase price in the U.K. was £3100. Bargain. DW has just won £32,000 in our local casino, so she's bought herself a very fetching white ceramic J12. Got a good price on that too, saved 10%.

Sailfish Posted September 7, 2017 #81 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Because we had quite a bit of ship board credit, I bought a couple of Invicta watches. One had a rose gold metal, which promptly turned brassy. Another stopped working a few months after we got it. It was the kind that needed motion to operate. Never really worked right and I use neither. Though probably overpriced also, I love my Citizen watches that I got on cruises. More expensive, but great eco drive watches. Lesson learned about Invicta.

Rare Rewind Posted September 8, 2017 #84 Share Posted September 8, 2017 I have two Invictas and neither of them are those large monstrosities they are moving towards. I have one battery powered that is quite nice (bought on Enchantment in 2012) and my other is an Automatic that has a Seiko movement in it (from Amazon). Because of the Seiko movement, the watch is a solid timepiece. Now when we cruise and I check out the watches, it looks more and more like old stock that couldn't be sold elsewhere. I'm sure there is the possibility of finding a good one, but you need to know what to look for.
