VIP on my Luggage Tags - what does it mean?

It is probably as VIP as the free spin VIP keyring they have given out in the casino for the last few years. I actually did see someone a couple cruises ago with that blue and yellow rubber VIP casino valved treasure attached to his shirt.

Bob

I currently carry two of them. [emoji41]

When my wife and were booked in a category VP (Panoramic Suite) for a cruise on September 10, we were also issued luggage tags marked "VIP". After receiving those tags, we upgraded the room to a GS and were issued new luggage tags marked "Suite". We are also Diamond + but that did not appear on either set of luggage tags, although it does appear on the SetSail passes. So, at the present time, VIP on luggage tags seems to just mean cabin category VP. However, it must have meant something different when this thread was started 3 years ago since there was no such cabin category as VP in 2015.

Ah ha! I think you solved it. (At least the 2018 reboot of this thread). Just looked and we are booked in VP category.

Maybe I can still get some mileage out of this - if anyone asks, I’ll say “I’m in the VIP cabin!” [emoji23]

Thanks,

Actually, there are VIP tags issued. I saw a guy flaunt his VIP ID he had hanging around his neck. He was in the MDR to change his seating (we were there to unseat ourselves) and the ass't dining room manager had just told a couple before him that he couldn't change their seating but the VIP guy was told they would figure something out and they'd call him with his new assignment. The man was borderline obnoxious, waving his large print VIP tag around to get what he wanted. He was a vendor working with RCI.

  • 3 weeks later...

I was just checking to see if anyone had figured this out yet. We are also sailing on Explorer in September and our luggage tags show VIP. I’ve never seen that before. Maybe it is just the “Ocean View Panoramic Suite.” We have the same and are also Diamond.

I think it has to be the ‘vp’ category. But we cruise two weeks from today so can report back soon.
