VIP on my Luggage Tags - what does it mean?

Thanks for replies everyone.

Not travelling in a group and as I said the upgrade was part of the fare I purchased.

I'll try the priority boarding lane and see where that gets me :)

I just got an offer from an online TA and they were designating a pkg with air and hotel as VIP. It was across several lines though

First RCI cruise, booked online for a inside cabin with a double double upgrade to balcony stateroom. Assigned deck 8 on Radiance and I have VIP printed on my Luggage Tags.

I've searched high and low and cannot find what this 'VIP' means. Thoughts?

Since this is your first RCI cruise, you are not at the gold level yet. Since there is no C&A level to put there, they put VIP.

Several people have taken their first cruise with us over the years. Have never seen these tags. Now I can't wait for our February cruise when we have two more cruise virgins coming with us.

I think there will be a lot of joking if their tags say VIP.

Bumping this thread to see if there is any new info out there about"VIP" on the luggage tags?

Just printed ours for upcoming Explorer cruise out of Seattle and found that there. FWIW, we are diamond, so not first cruise.

Thanks

Are you in a Suite? It should say Suite or Diamond, normally.

Funny you should ask that...we are in a "Ocean View Panoramic Suite" which was sold to us as becoming a full suite after a re-org in June, but now appears to be treated as a Jr suite. So "kinda"? Maybe RCCL is also confused as to what to call it.

Maybe that’s why you are VIP. :D

It is probably as VIP as the free spin VIP keyring they have given out in the casino for the last few years. I actually did see someone a couple cruises ago with that blue and yellow rubber VIP casino valved treasure attached to his shirt.
