I think some of them need a break from sea life, and want to spend more time with their families. Sometimes that's short-lived, and they eventually return to the CD role either full-time or as an occasional fill-in (ie: Richard Spacey, Abe Hughes, Gordon Whatman).

 

Perhaps it is time to try and get back the brilliant Kieron Buffrey?

Independence OTS - Joff Eaton May 28 until September 19, then Jamie Fentiman September 19 until mid-November. (It is not yet know which CD(s) will be onboard from mid-November though mid-May) Joff Eaton will be back on Indy in mid-May 2017 for 4 months

 

Jewel OTS - Simona Ferraiuolo beginning July 3 for the remainder of the European Season (then Dennis Charles returns?)

 

Legend OTS - Chris Brown from June 20 through October 19, then Keith Williams returns to re-position the ship from Hong Kong to Australia on October 19 until Jan 15, 2017. then Chris Brown should be returning Jan 15 to cover Keith's break again.

 

Liberty OTS - Jeff Arpin July 10 until early-November, then John Blair

 

Majesty OTS - Marc Walker August 27 to October 23 (then does Susan McColl return for 4 months?)

 

Mariner OTS - Fang Lixin end of March until mid-August, then Keith Williams mid-August through October 17. (Need handover date)

 

Navigator OTS - Rob McNally May 21 until October 1 (then who?)

 

Oasis OTS - Patricio Honores July 2 for 2 months, then Drew Devine should be returning at the end of August (need date) for 4 months.

Rich Edwards is temporarily out due to back issues and will not be returning until at least October 2016

Amy Fickert-Southgate has taken a job shoreside as of June 8

Luke Aerowsmith is working at the corporate office in London

Gordon Whatman is retired, but will be filling-in from time-to-time if needed

Allan Brooks works for Celebrity in their corporate office.

Richard Spacey is a CD with Celebrity

Becky Thompson works for Celebrity Cruises in their corporate offices in Miami.

Dave Chapman is a CD with HAL

James Andrews is a real estate agent in Sydney

Mike Szwajkowski is a Canadian Mountie

Leo Papa is a Product Manager at Tauck Corp in Connecticut

Anna Bass is a make-up artist

João Pereira is studying Portuguese/English education and translation at Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas in Brazil

Kirk Detweiler is now CD with Silversea cruises.

Simeon Baker - married a dancer, had a baby girl and is a sales exec at a Porsche dealer in Saskatchewan

Matt Baker - Sim's brother - recently married and living in Wales. They bought a pub called the Tiddley

Tom Canosa - teaching 6th grade science in North Carolina

Peter Benfield and Johnny Osborne have emigrated to Thailand

Anthony Richards is living in Miami with his wife, and is working for Royal Media Partners as Manager Port Revenue Operations

Paul Lancaster is no longer with RCI, and resides in England

Abel Jeney is Customer Service & People Manager at Momentum Services Ltd

Parker Cristan is living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - staging/choreographing for local theater

Jannie Cloete - leading expeditions on small ships

Marc Walker returns from his break on Monday (August 29).

OOPS...somehow I had it listed as today. I will fix the date when I update tomorrow.

 

TO ALL: I am looking for someone who can confirm the CD situation on Allure. The handover didn't occur last weekend as scheduled. Will it occur tomorrow? Is Dru still coming onboard, or has someone else been assigned?

At Captain's Corner this morning, Tim said he was signing off tomorrow. No other details given.

Are the CD doing longer and longer rotations? Some of them seem to do incredibly long shifts now without a break.

 

The usual contract for a regular CD is 4 months on followed by 2 months off. A fill-in CD usually does 2 months on followed by 4 months off, or does 4 month contract split over 2 different ships.

 

Recently, there has been a deficit of a few regular CD's (Leigh to Carnival, Luke and Ken and Amy to landside jobs, Rich and Jamie and Abe were on extended medical leaves, etc), so there were a few occasions where CDs had to step up and do a longer contract (or take a shorter break) to help out. Also, several Activities Managers were promoted, but there is still a bit of a "shortage".

Have been checking - any idea who C.D. is on Navigator? Doing Oct. 28th/Nov. 10th cruises from London - just wondering...

Dru Pavlov is Cruise Director for August 28 sailing of Allure. Have not had chance to ask whether he knows how long he is on board Allure.
Thank you!! My guess is 4 months, as I think he is the new regular CD of Allure.
