volmoma Posted September 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I know the Elegant/ Formal night which really isn't a party, just dressing up. I read somewhere on here that a Mardi Gras party is held, any others I should know about??
partybarbie Posted September 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) There's the "Ultimate Deck Party" and on the second formal night, a balloon drop and dance party in the atrium. Here's the link from the Princess website, http://www.princess.com/50th-anniversary/celebrations-onboard/ Might depend on the itinerary. On the Hawaiian cruises we've been on the Ultimate Deck Party (formerly Island Night) would be on a smart casual night as most passengers will be wearing Aloha wear (perhaps newly purchased while in Hawaii). The party would be up on the Lido deck with live music and dancing.
Working 2 Cruise Posted September 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 4, 2015 It's funny, we've never attended any of the deck parties... Too much to do elsewhere I guess.

I miss a lot of things for that reason. Never got to a M&G yer, really want to try Shuffle Board, just two that keep getting jammed. Nanna naps also interfere with many activities. skynight Posted September 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 4, 2015 I know the Elegant/ Formal night which really isn't a party, just dressing up. I read somewhere on here that a Mardi Gras party is held, any others I should know about?? Formal night is not a party, it is just the suggested dress for dining in the MDR's. Elsewhere on the ship dress is casual or smart casual. The Mardi Gras event is held in the Piazza on some ships, not every ship and not every cruise. It is basically a dixieland music show and dancing. There will be a deck party on warm weather cruises, again live music & dancing, normally line dancing. There may be a Rock & Roll Night, C&W night, Pub Night which Princess calls Cruise Classics. They are about 1 hour long and held in one of the lounges. You never know in advance if your cruise will have one or more of these activities, and which ones. Very few, if any, passengers dress in costume for any of the theme nights, except most wear some sort of tropical dress for the deck party.
