Eight year old sea sickness

My eight year old daughter has never been on a boat. I purchased some kids dramamine but I heard it had side effects. We leave tomorrow morning do you think I should give her some in the morning before the boat or just see how she is.... This kid does not get sick from anything she goes on Rollercoasters and any other ride you can imagine. Is it sill of me to worry about sea sickness

I would wait....unless it's REALLY rocky, she should have no problem!!!

I would encourage you to wait also. Unless it's really stormy she'll probably not even notice it. And yes, all medicines have side effects. Even Tylenol has a long list of warnings.

Yes, wait and see and DON'T WORRY she might pick up on your concern and then will worry about getting seasick. I would just go with the flow usually children aren't as adversely affected.

 

If you want to go a safer route, have her eat some green apples (they will have these in the buffet) or get some ginger candy, these are naturaly remedies and will be very effective against mal de mer.

Advice that most people aren't willing to give a shot (I don't know why, try it, it works). A bandaid stuck over your belly button prevents motion sickness. No side effects (although it looks a little weird if you are getting about in a two piece.) Honestly, I got sick travelling until I read this tip somewhere, never had a problem since.

I use sea bands when it gets really rough! I have also given some to our grandchildren for car sickness, no side effects, and can be taken on and off as needed. They are worn on your wrists, and are reusable and washable.:)

I would call her doctor and ask. I do get sea sick and have found if I take the medicine THE NIGHT BEFORE it works much better.

Usually most children don't get sea sick unless they get motion sickness in say a car.

Wait! If she doesn't get motion sick in cars and on roller coasters, she is very likely not getting sick on a ship. Don't suggest it to her! ;) Lucky girl!

Don't think about it and do not mention it to her. A mere mention could set her off. Don't ask......do you feel sick yet??? Just go about cruising business and forge ahead;)
