jennymaxgirl Posted October 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Boarding the royal princess tomorrow from Fort Lauderdale. My Personalizer states boarding is from 1230 to 300. What time is recommended for arrival? Thank you 😎😊
rdsqrl Posted October 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Boarding generally begins between 11.30 and noon, in this order: back-to-back pax, suites, elites, platinum (with wheelchair pax sprinkled in the early mix, too). If you are none of the above, you'll be assigned a group as you arrive and you board when your group is called. So, when to arrive? Well, that depends. If you're too excited to spend one more second in your hotel, then it's perfectly allowable to get to the terminal as early as 10 -- porters will be there, ready to take your bags -- as long as you're willing and prepared for a wait. If you hate lines and crowds, wait until 2-ish -- you can probably walk right in and be onboard in minutes.

CruiserBruce Posted October 31, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Is this information accurate across the line or is it specific to one ship and/or one port? This is the fleetwide, worldwide policy and procedure.
jennymaxgirl Posted October 31, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted October 31, 2015 I guess I should have stated that it's our first cruise so we don't have a priority status.
jasbo49 Posted October 31, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 31, 2015 If you're there about 11:30 a.m., you stand a good chance of boarding within an hour or so. Your room will be ready when you board and one dining room will be open for lunch. Jim

OCruisers Posted October 31, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2015 We normally get there about 11 - Noon ... depending on traffic since it's a couple of hours from where we spend the night. Love that upon boarding we can go directly to our cabin! :)
Treven Posted October 31, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2015 I get too the port about 11:00 and I'm usually in my cabin by noon. The times they give are merely a suggestion/request. I've never been turned away or told to come back at a later time.

cdnguy Posted October 31, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2015 The times they give are merely a suggestion/request. That's right. Our hotel shuttle leaves every hour on the hour. We're leaving at 10am. I'd rather sit at the port than pace the floor at the hotel:)

MrKenFL Posted October 31, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 31, 2015 We typically arrive at Park & Go parking lot around 12 noon ! We are usually in our cabin on our Princess ships before 1:30 ! Next cruise should be a bit quicker as we are Platinum on this cruise !
NC&KY Posted October 31, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Recognize that you'll need to get lunch somewhere, and if you go at 11:30 or so, you'll be on board in time to eat rather than having to pay for lunch on shore.
Cruisin' Chick Posted November 1, 2015 #16 Share Posted November 1, 2015 The last few cruises we've gotten an email that says 1pm. We ignore that and have never been turned away for arriving much earlier. Make sure you have your ID, credit card ready, and bring a magazine to read if you have a wait in the lounge after your check in.
Steelers36 Posted November 1, 2015 #17 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Recognize that you'll need to get lunch somewhere, and if you go at 11:30 or so, you'll be on board in time to eat rather than having to pay for lunch on shore. The HC buffet, the IC, Alfredo's (if on the ship), the pizza and burger grill on Lido are all open for food all afternoon, so one can certainly get their fill of food no matter when boarding. One of the MDR's does offer a sit-down, served lunch from a menu, but the hours are limited. Many folks seem to die to make this. For us, we'll be eating in the DR plenty of times and I'm more interested in being out in the warm Florida weather.
