Our cruise is for two weeks with Fort Lauderdale stop in the middle. All the excursions on offer either end at Miami airport or visit Miami or the Everglades. We have been to these two places and would like to visit Fort Lauderdale. Has anyone got any advice.

Take a cab or Uber to the Hilton Marina on 17th Street (if you are on Princess and docked at terminal #2 it is within walking distance) and take the water taxi (http://www.watertaxi.com) -- a hop on/hop off boat with the captain providing an entertaining and informational spiel. This is the best way to see Fort Lauderdale. You can disembark and cross over to the beach and/or disembark and take a walk down Las Olas Blvd (http://www.lasolasboulevard.com) with lots of shops, restaurants and galleries. Then take the water taxi back to the Hilton - or if time is short for making the ship just get a taxi or Uber.

Looks like you are on back-to-back cruises on Regal Princess. Very likely Princess will offer Ft Lauderdale excursions on turnaround day that return to the ship; it all depends on how many back-to-back passengers are onboard so they may not be available for pre-booking in your cruise personalizer. Just ask at the shore excursions desk after you board; at the very least they might arrange for one of the excursions that ends at FLL airport to bring you back to the ship.

Though as the others have said, it is very easy to arrange on your own what is typically offered in a Ft Lauderdale city tour: the beach, shopping, or the 'Carrie B' or 'Jungle Queen' boat tours of Millionaire's Row with a stop for lunch.

Many years ago we also did the boat excursion.

Loved it.

We have done the Duck tour (an amphibious vehicle) and also enjoyed looking at the houses. It is one of those touristy kind of things...but fun if you have nice weather (not too hot or humid).

Which boat excursion did you do as there seems to be more than one

The water taxi is the hop on/hop off small boat (http://www.watertaxi.com). So you can make up your own excursion.

The Carrie B (http://www.carriebcruises) and the Jungle Queen (http://www.junglequeen.com) are large boats that do a set 1 1/2 - 2 hour cruise along the intracoastal and the New River. The Carrie B docks on the New River near Las Olas Blvd, the Jungle Queen on the intracoastal south of Las Olas near the Bahia Mar hotel. We've taken visitors on the Jungle Queen and they (and we) have enjoyed it. We're planning on taking an evening cruise on the Carrie B to see the holiday decorations on the mega mansions and mega yachts in a couple of weeks (from all I've heard we will enjoy that too).

Thank you for your help. I have printed the water taxi brochure and we hope to use it.

We don't want beach or shopping as we have that at all the islands that we will be visiting. Any thing else you can suggest thank you

Yep. Do the back-to-back "dance" (get off the ship, clear immigration and wait until they allow you to reboard) and spend a nice day on the ship.
