Wine in carry-on or checked luggage?

In all the times I have been through this port, I have never seen signs at Port Canaveral indicating that you must remove wine from your checked luggage. I have transported the wine both ways at PC & prefer to send it in my checked luggage, so I don't have to carry it. I've never had my luggage held because of this or had to visit the naughty room. Have a great trip. :)

Thanks. I was wondering if they actually enforced that policy, which seems like more of a suggestion really.

Once in ft lauderdale, I put the 2 btls of wine in my checked luggage. Around 8pm I still was missing a suitcase. My suitcase was being held downstairs on the ship because I had 2 btls of wine. I went down to claim my suitcase and they held the wine until time for me to get off the ship.Do not send wine on the ship in checked luggage. This will happen to you

That's contrary to their policy. They merely say that wine SHOULD be carried on, not that it must be carried on.

This part of an email on the subject from them this week :

Guests may bring up to two (750 ml) bottles of wine or champagne, per stateroom, upon boarding, as well as a single nonalcoholic beverage in hand. Guests should bring bottles of wine as part of their carry-on luggage. Checked luggage containing wine will be brought to the ship’s security office to be inspected while the guest is present.

Nothing about confiscation

That's why I asked about the date. It may have been several years ago

That must have been quite awhile ago when you weren't supposed to bring on wine

That sounds like smuggling.;)

It's a scientific experiment :p

Meanwhile, someone else traveling with us, intending to increase the sample size in the experiment, missed bag check entirely and is carrying on 3 bottles with no issues.
I read on another thread that there are signs in Port Canaveral that states, if you have bottles of wine in your checked luggage, that it must be pulled out and brought on the ship in your carry-on thus through security. True or false? We've always bubble wrapped and sent them on with the porter with our checked luggage. What is right/safest? TIA
I don't recall seeing a sign, but the last 2 times we have cruised out of Port Canaveral, as we handed our luggage to the porter, we were specifically asked if there were any wine bottles in our luggage.

Regardless of the port we are leaving from, and regardless of the cruise line, we carry our wine in our carry-on.
