Live notes from the first South America cruise on the Star

Interesting was that for both disembarkation ports Valparaiso and buenos Aires freestyle disembarkation is not possible and you have to put out your luggage the night before.

I had to do it anyway because I had a tour with airport transfer booked. It was called Best of Buenos Aires & Gaucho Traditions With Transfer

In my opinion the weakest tour I have taken and I would rather recommend trying to get a private tour or even better stay in this beautiful city for longer

The problem with this tour is that it has a duration of 9 hours but you only have two very short stops in Buenos Aires, the cemetery and La Boca. Most of the time is wasted driving to the estancia in the pampas to watch a short horse games demonstration and a very long barbecue with a folkloric performance. The estancia is a family weekend destination as well with rooms to rent. Have a second thought if that is really where you want to set your priorities when visiting a place like Buenos Aires.

So far at this time and I hope I can write some final thoughts about this voyage tomorrow.

Hi Michael,

We typically travel with carry-on only so would we have to put that out the night before too?

Wondering that myself. In Aus similar rules apply. However hand luggage can usually be carried as it fits through the scanner. Would love to know the answer though. I'm planning on travelling light, but having to take an extra warm outfit for this itinerary I'm wondering if I can do it!

If I have a rolling suitcase and I want to roll it off myself, can I do that?

FYI, we just disembarked from the Sun in Valparaiso. We just had carry-on bags and they let us walk off whenever we wanted (once the shuttle buses were there). However any bags large enough to check have to be put out the night before. I suspect it's because there's no room for a bunch of luggage on the shuttles.
