Rare sparks1093 Posted December 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) For us, do to work schedules it is usually at least 90 days out. How about you? A year to eighteen months seems to be about average for us. I think my current count down clock started at like 560 days or so. winddawn Posted December 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2015 For us, do to work schedules it is usually at least 90 days out. How about you? I book whenever the casino sends me a decent offer that works with my schedule. Most of those seem to come about 60 days out.
OCruisers Posted December 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2015 When we want to take an extra cruise, Carnival has cruises out of Charleston which is an extremely convenient port for us. Still, we don't book way ahead for a shorter 7 day cruise ... so, normally, only about 90 days out.
Miller_KC Posted December 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2015 The poll should be set up with ranges. For me it has typically been between 3 to 9 months. Sometimes a little longer, once a little shorter but most between 3 to 9 months.

Indytraveler83 Posted December 15, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 15, 2015 Work is too unpredictable to know what's coming, so I tend to book about 90 days out. Far enough out to have a good room selection, but not far enough out for some of the really low prices!
29dawgs Posted December 15, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 15, 2015 We cruise every February and always book our next cruise a year in advance while we are onboard. We get the $100 onboard for doing so.
Rare Tapi Posted December 15, 2015 #12 Share Posted December 15, 2015 Our current cruise was booked on the day that it opened up for sale (it will be about 18 months by the time we sail). But we've booked as close as 10:00am on the morning of departure! [emoji41]
cruiseonthebrain Posted December 16, 2015 #13 Share Posted December 16, 2015 For us it all depends. I booked a Havanna Cabanna suite on the Vista over two years ahead, a quickie out of Charleston on the Ecstacy about 45 days out, and an Alaskan cruise 8 months ahead ( although I have been planning it in my head for years:-). We really wanted the itinery and the specific cabin on the Vista. Unexpectedly had some time off to squeeze in the Ecstacy, and the exact cabin we wanted came open unexpectedly on the Legend so we grabbed it while we could
tea4ular Posted December 16, 2015 #14 Share Posted December 16, 2015 12 to 18 months. This provides us with plenty of time to make small payments on a regular basis so when the trip rolls around we have no bill to come home to - we pay as much in advance as possible - gratuities, excursions, etc. - far less financially stressful for us this way. wyobean Posted December 16, 2015 #15 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Our longer cruises(25+ days) 12-16 months. Shorter ones...whenever we get a wild hair and the itinerary and price are right....30-90 days.
cruizinisthebest Posted December 16, 2015 #16 Share Posted December 16, 2015 10-14 months out. Very rarely later than that. I like having a trip to look forward to. And I get get the exact cabins I want as I am ridiculously picky about what cabins we choose.
Who Cares? Posted December 16, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Usually between 12 to 18 months out but my Vista cruise in 2017 was booked just short of 800 days out.

NoDayButToday Posted December 16, 2015 #20 Share Posted December 16, 2015 8-12 months out. We only cruise certain times of the year because of work busy seasons and the lead time allows us to budget and pay it off leisurely over time. I wouldn't be opposed to booking further out, but we are in the stage of our marriage where we might be looking at having kids soon and booking a cruise 2 years out is a lot of time for our current childless status to change where we wouldn't be able to take the cruise and early saver is so restrictive in the cancel policy. It's entirely the reason we still haven't booked a Vista cruise.
Drazil65 Posted December 16, 2015 #21 Share Posted December 16, 2015 (edited) Always 12 months out on our after Christmas New Years cruise (will book next years on Magic before we leave this year on Jan 2nd Valor cruise), it just works for planning time off and holiday events for the following year. Any other cruise during the year typically 6 months out is good for us for the most part. :) Edited December 16, 2015 by Drazil65
tkportersat Posted December 16, 2015 #22 Share Posted December 16, 2015 I picked 9 because it is in the middle of what we do which is anywhere from 6-12 months out.
frangran Posted December 16, 2015 #23 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Busy work schedules usually mean booking less than 3 weeks before sailing.
