Just curious….. I have heard people can get a casino drink cards by gambling a certain amount or accumulating a certain amount of points. If anybody knows, how many points do you have to get to and when you get a drink card can you use it for the duration of the cruise? Thank you and happy cursing all ! :)

On a 7 plus day cruise you need 1500 points to get a DOU (drinks on us) card. The drinks are then free while gambling in the casino For the duration of that cruise.. Points on the slot machine are 1 point for every $2.50 played through the machine. (yes that is $3,750.00). Points on the table games are rated and since I don't often play tables someone else will have to help you with the calculations.

If you accumulate greater than 5000 points you should be eligible for a DOU card at the start of your next cruise.

Also, be aware if you purchase the Cheers drink package, drinks on the DOU card count toward you 15 drink limit.

We booked with a casino rate (free cruise in an inside) and didn't get any other comps (casino cash, free drink card or goodies in the cabin). I have booked with the casino rate several times and received varying comps. I don't know exactly how they calculate who gets what. Contact the casino and ask them what comps you qualify for. You can find out how to contact them on the Carnival site under Players Club.

Do all cruises booked with a casino rate get the DOU card? We booked with a discounted casino rate but not sure what is included?

No, just the Premier or Ulta Casino Rates get the DOU card or immediate past cruises with 5,000 points. Once in a while, you might get a generous Casino host that gives you it but just booking a casino rate does not.

Yep, only on the premier and the once a year ultra premiere cruise.

Just to be even more clear, once you get the DOU card, you are only served the drink if you are actively gambling. So in the time between ordering and receiving the drink you might spend a lot more than the cost of the drink.

The points are also great for getting a Bounce Back offer. Which can be a free cruise.

I never bought a drink in the casino on our latest Dream cruise (Sunday - Sunday). I will only play Craps (or sometimes 3 Card Poker when the Craps table is closed or full), and the supervisors at the tables were very generous throughout the cruise "buying" drinks for the table. Finally, on Friday night, I was given the DOU card, based solely on my table play. I used the card only once, because the supervisors continued to buy drinks the rest of the time anyway.

I budgeted $100/day for casino spending. I never lost all of it, and a few days I came out ahead. I ended the cruise about $200 ahead in the casino.

One other thing I learned is that the DOU card has the same 15 drinks per day limit that the Cheers program has. A gentleman sitting near me at one of the 3 Card Poker tables was ordering scotch one night pretty regularly, and I overheard the waiter tell him that he had one left on his DOU card.

Some related information to this, the rate of point earning for video poker machines is 1 point per $5 coin-in, so to earn 1,500 points playing video poker, you'd have to play $7,500 coin-in.

I was going to mention that we price dropped last year to a Casino Rate and received no other perks.

You got lucky that the casino hosts were cool then.

I asked about being rated before and they basically said you need to play $25 hands for at least 4 hours a day.

Also on the premier cruise I did I was never capped at the 15 limit and we would usually play and hour or 2 in the afternoon and late night. I would also order drinks and then discretely hand them to other people. Usually beers.

I also tip about $5 a drink to the waitress $25 if I'm winning. So it evens out for me. Sometimes I'll only do $1

Just got off Triumph and Pit bosses were buying drinks the entire week. Seems like a got about 2 free drinks an hour, and just like you during the cruise they came over and attached the DOU card to my sail and sign and I only bet $10 on BJ and Play the numbers on Craps, but they still continued to buy the rounds. They even bought rounds for the poker players. I like the new attitude they were showing, plus they know how to keep the gamblers happy. They only thing I did not like is when the free drinks came I was the only one that tipped the server. I even mentioned to people it not hard to ask for $1 chips. I kept hearing the same response "I don't have any cash on me or I've lost enough not to have to tip".

We always tip $1-$2 for the free drinks as well and I've watched lots of people who r also getting Free drinks Not Tip.....I've mentioned it a few times to people that w the Free drinks they don't make the gratuity that's normally charged n more than a few actually said Oh I thought they were still compensated and then they started tipping at least a $1....Also by tipping every drink we've found the servers come back more often n learn our names quick 😜😜🍹🍹🍹
