ltjn Posted January 7, 2016 #26 Share Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) We were on the Grandeur this past December, and I did not see any car rental locations anywhere near the port. This area is a high shipping/commercial area with only two cruise ships using a small portion of the port. Edited January 7, 2016 by ltjn
CookieDiva Posted January 7, 2016 #27 Share Posted January 7, 2016 How was your mattress? I'm reading many comments from recent cruisers that say their mattresses were uncomfortably firm and that they had to request mattress toppers to get a decent night's sleep. LegalE2010 Posted January 7, 2016 #28 Share Posted January 7, 2016 One more question - it's hard to tell from the deck plan, but do you have to walk through the Casino to get from forward to aft on deck 5? Is it super smoky? Hoping to avoid all smoke with our baby!

davidhurt Posted January 7, 2016 #30 Share Posted January 7, 2016 You can go around the casino on the outside deck 5. If you want to stay inside and stay on deck 5, you have to go through the casino. The last time I was on, the casino didn't seem "too" smoky.
ladytaekwondo Posted January 7, 2016 #31 Share Posted January 7, 2016 We are also booked on the March 20 cruise! Very excited! Grandeur is one of our favorite ships!
ETski Posted January 7, 2016 #32 Share Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) Thank you for taking the time to post about your cruise on the Grandeur. We cruised on the Grandeur last March and had a great cruise. Cruising again in less then 2 months and hoping for the same great cruise. I do have a question about dining packages. Do you know if they offered one on board that included the Chef's Table? We did that last March and booked onboard for a great price. retiredgram Posted January 7, 2016 #33 Share Posted January 7, 2016 I am another cruiser wanting to know about the mattresses. Think we will need to pack out own egg crate toppers??
Jeff&Mel Posted January 7, 2016 Author #34 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Do you know what photo package options are offered, and how much they are? Thanks! I am sorry I do not know the package prices because we do purchase photos onboard. However, I did notice that there were photographers set up every night in various locations with different backdrops. Some that were just beautiful! I have never experienced the superior customer service experience that I had on this cruise! There were dining packages sold onboard to specialty restaurants. Not sure if the Chef's table was one of the options.... We did have dinner with the Captain one night. This was amazing.

retiredgram Posted January 8, 2016 #40 Share Posted January 8, 2016 I thought the mattresses were very comfortable.... Thank you. We knew last year the mattresses were fine, but so much talk about hard mattresses had me concerned. Firm is fine, but hard, no.

camofwilliamsburg Posted January 8, 2016 #42 Share Posted January 8, 2016 What time are the shows? I have my time dining but they sent me a form to make reservations. I do not want to eat dinner at a time that would not allow us to see the shows. Someone posted a compass from another ship and the times were 7 and 9. I do not recall on Legend of the Seas going to the shows before eating when I ate late dining at 8:30. Can someone please give me the info for Grandeur. Thanks. I can answer from my experience on other sailings until OP comes back... Some shows were during the first traditional dining time for those eating later. (you go to show then go to dinner). Then those with early dining would go to the show. (you go to dinner then go to the show). My last sailing on Grandeur was like this... way back in 2007!!! I have noticed that with the increase in MTD users, other activities, etc. This varies more. Some shows may only occur once that day for all guests. Some will have shows after dinner for both traditional dining times (8 and 1030p perhaps). For my April sailing, I was just going to take my chances and 'show up' for MTD w/o a reservation and wait as not to miss any show that I'd want to see. Or you could schedule your reservation the day before perhaps when you see the compass for the next day?? GOOD LUCK :)

Based on the OPs post, yes the theater mentioned is the main theater. Late night snacks... Park Cafe in the Solarium on Deck 9 or room service. After midnight there is a service charge for room service. What do they actually serve late at night?? Night sure , but I think pizza, burgers, fries etc.

If you choose MTD times close to the traditional dining times, then you will be good for the shows.
BND Posted January 8, 2016 #46 Share Posted January 8, 2016 We are sailing on the Grandeur Oct 31. Did you happen to notice if there are any car rental offices at the Port? Thank you. No, there aren't. The port is in a commercial area right off I-95 and the closest rental offices are in downtown Baltimore and close to downtown (mostly Enterprise) which is several miles away. Most of the major car rental agencies are at the airport.

Our experience over most of the ships we've been on and Grandeur in particular is that the first night (and usually the last night) show is a one time event, but the rest of the shows are mostly held during first dining time for late diners and during late dining time for early. We've had many shows at 7 when we've had 8:30 dining.

Show times for most nights are 7 and 8:45 pm. On two nights there was one show only and the time was 7pm. We had my time dining and we ate each night at 6:45 and went to the 8:45 show. We skipped the 2 nights that had one show only.
