IndyKid Posted February 3, 2016 #26 Share Posted February 3, 2016 The safety of the ship, passengers and crew are the Number 1 responsibility of the captain, and will always take precedence over any concerns about schedule, ports etc. I was on the Radiance last June when we hit a nasty storm in the Gulf of Alaska. We ended up having to detour and missed out on seeing the Hubbard Glacier. I just decided to marinate in the hot tub and enjoy several adult beverages....:D
USNUZULOOSE Posted February 3, 2016 #27 Share Posted February 3, 2016 The way I would look at is I can have a relaxing day on the ship. Sleep late, eat, read, watch a movie.
dpostman Posted February 3, 2016 #28 Share Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Grandeur hit it in 2005. 17 mph winds and 3 mph current. Put a non ship threatening gash in the hull above the waterline. Though life for Grandeur. Did it not also have a major fire in aft section some time back? happy traveler69 Posted February 3, 2016 #29 Share Posted February 3, 2016 the ship can spin around in a pond as far as I'm concerned! I'd just rather be cruising than eyeball high in paperwork

dpostman Posted February 3, 2016 #31 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Also for those currently on Indy, the following cruise is the 70 000 tons of METAL! So there might be some preperations going on in some areas of the ship to get ready for the next group. http://70000tons.com dp

yogimax Posted February 3, 2016 #36 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Very enlightening. Thank you You brought a smile to my face. What's also interesting is seeing a question answered in the first post and then seeing 50 more responses all saying the same thing.
FLACRUISER99 Posted February 3, 2016 #37 Share Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) It MAY depend on whether you debark on Monday or Saturday. On Saturday, Oasis is in port and uses the new terminal while Indy has to use the old one. This is just a guess. Oops,:o it was in November and we debarked on Thanksgiving Day. However it was Pier 25/24. Edited February 3, 2016 by FLACRUISER99

tlatrice Posted February 3, 2016 #39 Share Posted February 3, 2016 We have missed a few ports over the years and it is always my excuse to take another cruise and try again. Same here! My excursions in Falmouth and Grand Cayman were both cancelled. So I need to redo that itinerary again! :D
JaniceB Posted February 3, 2016 #40 Share Posted February 3, 2016 I love the one answer an excuse to book another cruise to that port. Any day on a cruise ship is better than no days at all.

Yup, and we were booked on her for the next sailing. She didn't come back to NOLA until 3 days into the week. Hated having to cancel.
