Carnival.com NEW search engine sucks

Carnival does monitor Cruise Critic and many voices have more power than one. I didn't say I couldn't figure it out I just said I don't like it.

I agree change is good, but only when it is an improvement not two steps backward.

Thanks to everybody else who agrees with me.

Agree. Hopefully they read this post and take it into consideration. It is a lot less efficient than the old search. Easy to figure out but annoying to use.

I also agree with the OP and others. The new layout for searching looks "prettier" but is not user friendly - in the least. I hate it. It is slow and not conducive to looking at multiple cruises at once. The last search engine they had was a breeze to look at all the sailings for a port or ship for various timeframes. Very frustrating.

I thought it was just me! Horrible! I loved it before. So easy to get the info you want. I can't for the life of me figure out how to save and compare cruises now:eek:

I totally agree. While trying to book a cruise Saturday night.... i was up until 1:30am... very stressed out.... gave up, went to bed. Spent 2 hours the next morning before booking.. Its not all the websites fault... i was doing many comparisons with cruise and airfare... and which would be the one i wanted to go on... absolutely terrible website for booking now. It definetly is not USER FRIENDLY.

Sorry, but I find the new search engine very usable. I find all of the things being complained about here work very well. I can find several cruises and compare them. I can see the itinerary of each of those along with the times in port. I can see a list of previous searches and click a "view" button to see any one of those I want to see. I can make changes to specific elements of my search and it appears instantly without needing to re-enter much of the information. I can see the excursions that are available in each of the options that I am considering. And I can even see things about the ship that the cruise will be on. I use IE on Windows 10 and the search engine is extremely fast. AND, I do not have to go through a bunch of screens just to get my basic search information into the system. Sorry if change is difficult for you, but slow down and find out all the features of the new process before you dismiss it.

I, too, find the site very user friendly. It's very informative, easy to manipulate, and it stokes the fires for interest in cruising.

Since CC is such a minuscule percentage of actual cruisers I don't think Carnival is going to be giving much credence to an outlier group of cruisers who "complain" voraciously about any "change" to their cruising experience.

I do appreciate everybody's opinions. I have been using my iPad to search on Carnivals website and it has been frustrating to say the least. Maybe I should switch and use my desktop to do my searching.

I'll check it out. Thanks

  • 3 weeks later...

Just tried to book a cabin that shows available on all TA sites but I cannot find a way to book it on Carnival. Thinking they are trying to sell certain cabins only. I've looked under every balcony category available and it does not show up. No problem navigating the site but something is off.

Update: Finally had to call. Found out that when using the casino promo (not free cruise promo) that not all cabins are available to book. Also, a party of two can't book certain cabins. Although, they did let me book one that I could not access that showed on TA site. So, who knows.

I don't like it either. It seems to omit a lot of options. I've very thorough when I do my research, but I found a lot of options that I had to search out individually because they didn't come up on the "comprehensive" search.

For example, we were looking for a cruise in September or October on a ship with the 2.0 upgrades. (My boyfriend HAS to have Guy's.) The cruise I think we are going to settle on never came up in my comprehensive search. I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't picked out every Guy's ship and done searches one-by-one.

Frustrating....

I've been looking for a cruise recently and I hate the new carnival search engine under plan for a cruise. I actually now prefer to use any online travel agency search engine to get better results. Congratulations Carnival you messed up again!

I don't really have an opinion on this one way or another, but can say with confidence I'm glad I'm not seeing Speedo guy anymore. :) That alone to me is a huge improvement.
