Shaco Posted February 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Would it be worth $1400. pp to upgrade from an E2 to a D? We spend a lot of time in our cabin and on the balcony. This is for a 16 night TA and we need to decide today. Never been on Royal, only on Celebrity. Really appreciate any help! Sharon

The size is just not that much different. I would not even upgrade from a balcony to a JS for $3200. Edited February 17, 2016 by clarea
bouhunter Posted February 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) There is hardly any difference at all. NO WAY. You're probably just seeing a general overall price increase from when you booked, not that much difference now between the two if you checked both at todays prices? Rare LMaxwell Posted February 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Nope. Wouldn't be worth $100 pp to me for that upgrade.
Hotel CA Posted February 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Definitely not for 1400 pp-- sizes are too similar to justify paying that much more Edited February 17, 2016 by Hotel CA
blueblock Posted February 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Another vote for no. The difference between an E and a D is not large enough to justify that big a difference.
cruisingsince94 Posted February 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2016 NO! The only way I would ever upgrade from an E to D is if the amount was $200 pp or less and the D we were moving to was an aft balcony.
AustinCruise Posted February 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Not for me.

Din321 Posted February 18, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2016 As long as you already have a balcony, stick with it. We love our balcony and have had both rooms and we do like to spend some time there. The biggest difference we find is the full size sofa or the love seat size....and the cabin is a bit longer, but not worth that difference. Both cabins are nice and we've also had the E cabins forward.....they have a bigger, square balcony!
Merion_Mom Posted February 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 18, 2016 The answer is so completely "no" that I was wondering if this post was a joke!

Sharon I would try to get one of the larger balcony E2 cabins on forward and rear jump section which should be at the same cost. We've had both categories on Radiance class ships and those large balcony E1 and E2 cabins are nicer in our opinion. sailinglisa Posted February 18, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Another "NO!" Not that much difference between the two categories to pay that much per person. Maybe if it was 200 total for the two of you to upgrade, then maybe depending on the location of the cat D cabin.
xxHadleyxx Posted February 18, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Another no here--and anotehr vote to try for those forward E1s with the bigger balcony. There are photos and descriptions of both cabin types on my blog post from a few years ago, which is here: http://hadleyswanderingsandramblings.blogspot.de/2013/11/photos-of-staterooms-on-serenade-of.html Perhaps that might help.
