Strawberry-Basil Smash?

Hi,

 

I had a drink on the Oosterdam last summer that I think was called a Strawberry-Basil Smash. I really enjoyed it. I know it had obviously strawberries and fresh basil leaves and also vodka but I don't know what else was in it. Does anyone know the recipe for this drink? Thanks!!

I've tried the Strawberry Basil Bellisimo which seemed as you described. The basil is an infusion.

ooh, I had that drink on the Eurodam one summer. I have no idea what is in it, hopefully someone knows.

The drink I had was in a rocks glass I think. It definitely had fresh basil leaves in it. I wish I had a picture of it so I could remember better! I had the drinks package so I was trying lots of drinks, but I kept going back to that one!

Being a smash, I suspect you crush the berries, muddle the basil, add vodka and soda. Maybe sugar if the berries are tart. Or use seven up instead of plain soda. Squeeze a lime wedge in to bring out the flavours. Just guessing.

Simple syrup and soda. It's very much like a Mojito, with Vodka instead of rum, basil instead of mint, and strawberries.

 

So, aside from the fact that it's nothing at all like a Mojito, it's exactly the same. :D
