coasterjan Posted March 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I wasn't really all that happy about banning us from bringing on our own water, since we prefer Deer Park spring water to filtered water, but at least it was almost reasonably priced (almost). But now, almost $8 a case for filtered water? Really? I'm sorry we invited friends who've only sailed on Royal before to come on our next cruise. I'm just not happy with some of the choices Carnival is making lately. And the American Table menus look disgusting. This just might be our last Carnival cruise. It's an increase of $1. So if you consider a case 2-12 packs, you are paying $8 instead of $6. It's extremely reasonably priced. Over what you would have purchased to bring onboard or any water you can purchase on any other line. If it's not an acceptable brand, the $1 increase is not making a difference. TomAndJane Posted March 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I bought mine this morning for $2.99. Must have went up after I purchased it. Three cases (one case per room) for under $18.

ladylikes2cruise Posted March 2, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 2, 2016 purchased mine early last week, $2.99 for April....but still would have purchased it for $3.99, just for the convenience. But, if the cost goes higher, no.

Boozebabe Posted March 2, 2016 #16 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) I wonder if they raised prices on all drinks on board, I sail in a few days We were on the Glory sailing Feb 20. I ordered my usual long Island Tea in the casino. When it came I was shocked. It used to be served in a tumbler that would hold approx. 16 oz. It is now served in a skinny glass that holds about 12 oz. and it cost $1.00 more than it did last year in Jan on our cruise. Last year they were $9.00 ish? with tip. This year it was $10.00 ish? with tip. Less drink but more money....NOT GOOD I paid 2.99 for the water but at 3.99 it would still be worth it to not have to lug it around. kona_wahine Posted March 2, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Whew, the Kahlua is still $80. I was worried as I've been putting off buying it. :p. $4 for 12 waters is still pretty cheap in my book. I hope they don't keep raising the price though.
Wooshers Posted March 2, 2016 #18 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Iirc when they announced that they were banning water and selling there were quite a few ppl saying that the price would be bumped soon. Does seem like it was their plan to just increase profits even though I believe Carnival said they were selling the water at cost. Sure feels like a shady move by Carnival imo. I still think it would be better than needing to carry it on but I don't think I'll bother buying it personally.
wyobean Posted March 2, 2016 #19 Share Posted March 2, 2016 No way their cost is .33 a bottle. I buy it for .15. With the volume they buy I am sure they are less than I pay. Don't get me wrong...I don't care that it went up, just won't believe they are selling for cost.
suz1450 Posted March 2, 2016 #20 Share Posted March 2, 2016 The wine I like went up $5 a bottle from what I paid on my last cruise in January.

Don't get me wrong...I don't care that it went up, just won't believe they are selling for cost. No way they sell anything at cost. They make big money on water That's like expecting a movie theatre to sell soda and popcorn at cost. never happen carnival corp buys in big volume and that means BIG discounts Edited March 2, 2016 by Vitamin_Sea
Boozebabe Posted March 2, 2016 #22 Share Posted March 2, 2016 And obviously it has their own label on it for advertisement. Still not a bad deal at $3.99.

Their soda and popcorn are what keeps their lights on. Carnival doesn't split our cruise fares(At least that I know of).

Hahaha. ...this surely has to be a joke. if $8 for a case of water is too much a staycation may be a better idea than a cruise. As for the American table and feast menus, why don't you give them a chance before judgment? They are better than anything in a Royal Caribbean MDR,. I know I have had both.
