Just off the Glory and....

We didn't eat at the Fish and Chips restaurant. I kind of forgot about it actually. It is upstairs from the buffet.

I do have to say my kids LOVED the Circle C and had a great time and made friends with a lot of kids. So that was a big plus. Jessica from Peru was the director.

Also, we miss the sushi....we always seemed to miss the tasting bar.

Our last trip was 4 years ago on the Glory and with all the changes it just seemed so different this time around. We are not giving up on Carnival by any means, but I do hope they realize the cutbacks have an adverse effect on both employees and the customers.

It's been a few years since we were on the Glory before the "2" upgrades but we enjoyed it very much. Although it could be better now we found the Fish and Chips to be very greasy and weren't thrilled with it. A lot of people lately seem very satisfied so maybe it has improved.

I think the worst "cutbacks" have been the reduced number of staff. They are obviously overworked to the point of frustration thereby effecting their attitude. They are obviously not happy. Carnival is doing a huge disservice to them as well as their passengers. I still will cruise with Carnival but am disappointed in some of their decisions and know too that other cruise lines are doing some of the same things. It makes me unhappy to see some of the crew unhappy.

I agree with you completely. My last Carnival Glory cruise was off in a "I can't put my finger on it" kind of way. Service in general was rather lackadaisical and robotic (not the usual Carnival good cheer). Both American Table and Sea Day Brunch menus/options were horrible. When I cruise I enjoy a main dining room experience that has a table cloth & good menu. I'm not impressed with the over emphasis on casual main dining rooms. It's surprising that Carnival continues on with this BAD idea. No one I talked to who cruises Carnival regularly likes AT or SDB.

Really? Horrible?

Just a few thoughts and comments;

This is our first cruise in 4 years and lot has changed.....

Our steward was wonderful and told us he would be making up our room 2x a day.

The American Table menu was not very good. I also noticed the buffet and dining room had some of the same dishes. I can't put my finger on it, but the dining room was off on our visits. It was strange that you order a baked potato and 10 minutes later someone comes around with sour cream and bacon. Just put some on the plate. Anyway, it has changed and not for the best. The Blue Iguana and Guy's Burgers were awesome and the Pizza was top notch They need to rethink the dining room menu though

The internet package deals were a steal. We got the top package for$99 and loved that you could log on from any device, one at a time of course. (we had to get it for work) The chat also worked wonderfully between all of us as so we didn't have to chase down our kids.

Playlist productions were ok, but honestly I had to drag my family to them..lol Not a fan of the Hasbro show it was annoying, and they did it 2x on a 7 day cruise.

Comedy room has a bad layout......but good comedians.

We still had a good time, but the whole cruise seemed a bit off to me....don't know why...

BTW- Eric the CD said that the midnight buffet will be coming back.....we shall see....

Glad you had a good time.

We were on the Glory about 2 1/2 months ago and we loves everything you didn't, to each their own.

We didn't meet one crew member on our cruise like this.

We sailed the Glory last year and it was not one of our favorites. Don't get me wrong, we had a great time. Just like everyone has said, there was just something off. I don't mind AT. Our best time was at Alchemy Bar. We just loved the Mixologists, Brian and Alexander.

I was on the Glory for its 2 Journey cruises B2B this Jan and Feb, , and the only bad incident was on turnover day in San Juan. The CD asked all 500 of us B2Bers to gather in the main theater at 9:15AM - we filled up all the center and right aisle seats.

By 11:00 and 11:30, the CD was blaming misinformation, Customs, other staff and yes, us cruisers, for the total lack of progress in getting us processed for the 2nd leg of the cruise.

He was rude and insulting, stressed out and hadn't thought out new policies for getting that many B2Bers new S&S cards, it was too overwhelming for his skill set. This nonsense ended by 12:30PM, an ordeal of over 3 hours.

Two days later, Carnival management sent a letter to all B2Bers apologizing for our frustration and the CD's ineptitude. We were invited to a make up party similar to the past guest, where the CD stood on stage and offered his personal apology for messing things up.

It was funny that at the start of the party, the B2Bers filled the entire theater floor, as some B2Bers who had gone into San Juan and avoided the fiasco got invited to attend as well as us folk who were truly inconvenienced.

That was the main hiccup on this set of cruises. I wound up being upgraded from an inside to a balcony but I certainly didn't mind that extra move. And I don't have an opinion on linens in the MDR, I accepted that eating there is not fine dining long ago.

Did you eat at the Fish 'n Chips place? I couldn't find it. Asked 4 crew members and they didn't know either!

Please make sure you comment on the issues you had in the email you get.

I did 3 weeks ago. It is above the buffet. Be glad you didn't waste a meal by eating there. It was awful. I've gotten better fish at Long John Silvers and thats not saying much. It was the greaseiest fish ever. And the fries were skinny, dry and cold. The fries at Guys are much better. They have cevice there but I don't eat that so have no opinion.

Overall we thought the food on the Glory was awful with the exception of Guys burgers. Meat was either shoe-leather tough or had too much fat and grissle. But it was that damned new American table. Most complaints I've heard about were about the new menu.

I was on the same cruise as you and I had the Prime Rib both nights. It is the same Prime Rib as the old menu. It was tender and not a lot of fat and very good. My table mates had the Flat Iron Steak (same as old menu) a few times which I advised against but it looked decent and they said it was delicious. I have never had "awful" food on the Glory on any of my 7 cruises on her. The first 2 were with the old menu and the subsequent ones with the new. If you're not satisfied with your food, let your server know and they will be more than happy to bring you something else.

I guess I just have a hard time with people blaming the new menu when most of the things are the same. It could be due to the supplier of that particular meat at the time, how well done it's ordered, or even who cooked it. But to automatically assume that it's due to the new menu doesn't make much sense to me.

That is terrible. How frustrating for everyone.. Happy you got an upgrade out of it.

We sailed the Glory at the end of February/early March. Overall, it was a great cruise - our steward made up our room twice a day without asking, the comedy shows were good (though lines were really long), the Playlist Productions weren't nearly as bad as I was expecting based on reviews here, and I enjoyed the additional options at lunch (Guy's, Blue Iguana). Also, there was a gift card for the spa, a free picture, and $25 off a bottle of wine in my room as well, since it was my birthday a couple of weeks earlier, which was a nice surprise, since I didn't mention anything about my birthday. Sea day brunch was good, and I enjoyed the Serenity area and the water slide.

The not-so-good - American Table was just okay. It was definitely hit or miss. The lack of tableclothes didn't bother me, it was more the food that was sometimes not so great. Our waitress was really sweet, though. The for-fee room service items - I paid to try the pizza and spicy shrimp basket, assuming it would be better than what's on the buffet. It wasn't! The pizza was terrible (actually, I think they may have changed their pizza in the last year overall - I remember liking it on the Valor last year, but on the Glory it was gross, both the free kind and the room service kind), the shrimp weirdly chewy, and the fries no different from what you'd get at the buffet or the fish and chips place. Intenet was glacially slow - I only bought a one day package, since I needed to book some stuff before I got off the ship. I guess I should have bought the faster internet if I wanted it to work.

Overall, though, we had a nice time, and nothing that put us off Carnival for a future cruise, although I do prefer land vacations. This was only my second cruise, though, so take my opinion with that in mind.

We just got back yesterday as well. Eric was annoying to me in the beginning, but I just got used to him.

We had Your Time Dining and found the food to be very good. Service? We were seated with the same wait staff twice and it was phenomenal. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive--no worries there.

However, twice we were seated in a corner table--two different corners and two different wait staffs. Both times were were completely ignored. The first time we waited 45 minutes after the entree plates were cleared to finally get the asst. waiter to bring a dessert menu. "Ready for dessert?" she asked with giddy enthusiasm. "We've been ready," I grumped at her. No apology from any of the wait staff for the delay.

The other corner fiasco was strange. The asst. waiter brought all of the entrees from the kitchen. All except for ours. We were delayed at least 20 minutes and finally received our entrees. We ate most of the baked potato and prime rib before the waiter brought over the au jus and sour cream. Then we sat with our dirty dishes for another 30 minutes before we were able to order dessert. I actually had to raise my voice, "Could I PLEASE get another cup of coffee?" to get a second cup of coffee to finish my dessert.

My advice--if they try to seat you in the corner, ask for a different table!

I can just say the Everson was the worst in over 45 years of cruising I have even seen. He would sing over the PA system and he can't sing. I can tell you anything you want to know aboit Glory we are experts. If you have any questions let us know. We have been tons of times.

That's your opinion. Mine and plenty of others' say differently.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that was disappointed on the Glory. I normally cruise with Costa so it's not like I have sky high expectations. But my Costa cruise blew this one out of the water. The food was horrific on the Glory! I got talapia one night in the MDR that literally tasted like sewage. Everything was cold and mushy. Every time we got a baked potato we never received the sour cream even after asking. It was like eating a converse shoe. The other three nights we ate there I couldn't get through anything. The people around us were complaining too. One lady found hair in her meal. It was a train-wreck. My sister and I survived off room service BLTs, pizza and eating in ports. Guy's is good but I can't eat that much grease every day.

The internet was SO slow. Was of money there. Cheers turned out not to be worth it for me in the end but that was a gamble anyway. I felt there was a severe lack of staff. We were in the casino a lot and would order a drink from a waiter and no joke it would take 20-30 mins to get it. Sometimes we would stand there waiting after playing a machine just to get our drink. A few times I just left because it took so long. I should have just gone to the bar I guess (which I did many times). Never got served apart from 2 times on the decks (I'm not certain if this is something that is not common on Carnival or American ships in general? On Costa you have a waiter always rushing up to you to ask if you need something else as you are finishing but never happened on the glory). The ship felt very dirty to me, there was food left all over the place, on tables (somewhat to be expected I guess), in the hallways, dripping ice cream cones thrown around melting, half eaten guy's all over the sun decks and chairs. It also felt really crowded. We never found a seat on Serenity deck.

I will say it was a nice vacation apart from all that but it did put me off Carnival. Not to mention I paid almost double what I would pay to cruise Costa in the Med...
